F**KIN HOT!
WOB, ten throws. Still struggling with this, got some video done, will
get it posted today or tomorrow. Thinkin its a timing issue on the
pull.
Caber, 17 1/2, 120 lbs, did about 10 pulls, no turn but timing felt
better on the big pull, hitting about 75-80 degrees.
Planned on throwing heavy hammer, but by this time I was sweating
like a fat kid eatin hotwings!

I am for sure no expert on the subject but I will take a crack at it.

It looks like you are swinging the weight all the way until you release it.  You are letting the momentum do all the work and not really pulling the weight.  After your last back swing, just before the weight hits it's low point, you want to pull it like you are doing a hang snatch.  The weight is naturally going to swing out some because it is F'n heavy and it's own momentum will carry it out.  You want to try to pull it in a straight line up over the bar.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that should help!

One more thing to try would be to narrow your stance a little bit and really drive your hips through.  It looks like you are using primarily your back to swing the weight up.  Once you pull it like a snatch that should hopefully happen on it's own.

Thanks for the tips. After going over the vids I can see what you're
sayin, seems like my feet are widening even more after I start the
swing, and yep NO hip drive! Will work on it this week.

Alright been awhile since my last post, had some shoulder and knee
issues, took a little time to heal up.

July 5
Jera and I put on a small demo for some kids at the library today, two
sessions, very low key easy throws but actually felt great, doing one
more tomorrow.
Weight session, went FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!
F Squat, Incline Bench, Deads, 10x3, felt very fast and explosive, total
time in weight room, 25 minutes, sweating my A** off
1000 jump ropes, 3x10, 12 lb sledge swings each hand on the ole tire
just for the hell of it!

P.S. 1.M.R pre workout & glutamine = Happy Doug!

If you know what is broken, just get out there and fix it.
You can see in the video that you aren't sitting down on
the weight at the bottom, meaning almost no bend in those
legs, giving you no place to go with it. Get it done, Big
Red!

Seems like you are still swinging the weight to far out and trying to go out and up over the par.  Remember to drop your hips and pull the weight up and not swing it out.  You have more power if you pull the weight than if you swing it.

Chiro, first time since KC games, said my ankle was definately still
jacked, did what she could, back in a week to see if she can work the
rest of it out. Feels a ton better already, I love this girl.

Early morning lifting session, 4:00 a.m.
Bench 205 3x3, 215 3x3, 225 3x3, 235 1x3
Deads 250 3x3, 260 3x3, 270 3x3, 280 1x3, went REALLY light with
these, felt rough, using to much back
FSquats 215 3x3, 225 3x3 , 235 3x3, 245 1x3
Started out sluggish and slow, second half felt fast and poppy, took
40 minutes start to finish, gotta speed it up.
Tonight, wfd, hammers, FOAM ROLL! (Love his thing)

WFD, ran 10 first spin drills, worked on sinking about 3-4 inches. Felt
good, foot placement was on the money, timing felt great, legs felt
ready to start the drive forward, got pretty jacked. Went to full spin
and all hell broke loose. Could not keep my first spin tight to save my
life, any speed put behind it pulled me out of the left side of the trig.
Slowed it down, coming out the front. Will post vids tomorrow. Feel
like the lifting is getting more explosive in the gym, just need to carry
it on to the field.

Hammer, took these nice and slow, form felt decent, need to work on
pulling my head back on release. Need to watch the vid and check my
orbit.

Super tight finished up with stretching and foam roll.

Braemar 24lbs, no good, vid says it all...

Breamar 7 14 11

At least the musics not bad.

Open, same as above no drive, no separation, felt slow. really need to get this worked out. planned on taking vids of this, low battery. will get some up.

current weight. 260 down from 280. feel much more flexible, feel explosive in the gym, cannot seem to carry over to the field. after losing that much gut it feels like my timing is way off, almost like relearning how to throw. I'm sure if i can get the timing down and find my legs the fat loss WILL help, just gotta work it more

Your feet are too close together.  Try stepping back another 6 inches to 1 foot with your right foot.  Should help you get a little more pop/power out of that leg.  Your right leg is to generate the power and your left is to lift the stone.  Think of it as right leg helps push the stone out and left leg helps push it up.  Also, keep your head and chest up in the direction of the stone.  It looks like you were a litte to rotational which makes your throw to far out of your right side.  You want all of your power pushing directly through the stone.

Ledaig highland games, Rainbow Bend KS
First off it was awesome to be a part of Daves birthday games,
always great to get together w/ other gamers and just go out and
throw, great bunch of people!

All in all felt good about my throws, PRs in both stones, season PR in
HWFD, 1st turn this season on caber (thank you caber gods!) 11:00
not a great turn, very top heavy stick, hard to control so I'm ok w/ it.

Hammers kind of suffered (short arms). LWFD, footwork felt good,
release just wasn't there. Sheaf, felt like I had 28 in me till we went to
26, fell apart. WOB....DAMN YOU! Not gunna beat myself up to bad
on it, tired and hot as hell by this point. Stock tanks full of frigid well
water felt damn good afterwards!

Both Hammers, 10 throws a piece, nice and easy. Been releasing my
hammers flat, concentrated on releasing up not out.felt decent once I
got it up, definately added feet! Feel like my form is coming together,
keeping arms long, no t-rexing, getting head out of the way.

Spent the rest of the night working with my 14 year old son on
hammers and wob. AWESOME seeing him out there trying it!

lwfd, 15 throws. Went out and tried some nice easy throws, started off fouling out the left side of the box, tightened up first spin, waited for it to come around, seemed to fix that problem but ended up fouling out the back. Needs more work.

Sheaf 20lbs, 15 pulls. started out very stiff, relaxed, loosened my arms, drove with my legs, hitting about 28 ft.

lifting in the a.m. throwing in the p.m. work in the middle = worn out!
