Yeah, Ryan has been vulnerable this year. It's true,
Edmunds is kicking ass, Robb is impressive, and the rest
of the American contingent is pretty damn good. That
English bloke throws a decent stone, and the Ukrainian
doesn't exactly suck.

But come on, people. It's the biggest of big games. He
may only win one event, but Ryan V. will rise to the
occasion and take the title. Again.

It will be won by a man wearing a plaid skirt.

VIERRA ALL THE WAY.  All are great throwers but the man just keep coming at it!  He has another gear.  It does not matter if he is vulnerable or not.  All that matters is who brings it to the dance.  He has proven beyond a doubt he brings it when it counts!  Until someone else can prove otherwise no one else gets my vote.

I agree with Gallager. I've had the great fortune of training and spending time with Ryan. When it comes down to it, the man rises to new levels of superior athleticism. I have goosebumps just thinking about it.He's an awesome force, the center of a universe where by all other planets revolve.

Vierra is pure class..not to take anything away from the other great pro's who have made it..but the man has icewater in his veins..will win a few but place well enough for the overall...key to this WC is to make the least mistakes and time and time agin Ryan proved he is the king of throwing well while limiting any breathing room for someone to sneak up on him

Wow, I have been disconnected from the community for a while and I am encouraged that the lines are alive and well.  This year should be interesting.  A lot of different strengths throughout.  I don't think anyone can be counted out.  We all have our favorites, it will be interesting.  Good luck to all competing!

Ryan, everyone else in 2nd place. Bruce Robb looks dangerous. While I'm not a fan of his training methods, Brock is a machine. Can't comment on Edmunds except he has the potential to blow everyone away on a few events. Seeing as Pat isn't throwing, I'll be hoping Dave Barron kicks some butt.

I hate to rain on your parade folks - but the OFFICIAL worlds were held last weekend (and every year) at Balloch on Loch Lomond

Results were as follows

1st Ryan Vierra - World champion for 2007 with 41 points

2nd Bruce Robb - Runner up with 32 points

3rd Pat Hellier - with 30 points

4th Bruce Aitken

Bad weather and heavy rain was the order of the day, so no records were broken by any thrower. Hopfully next year will be better.

life might not be the party we had hoped for, but while were here we should dance.

With everybody is throwing so well these days, it's a tough call. Ryan is the safe bet. Sean is pure excellence these days, but Dave is my sleeper because he is capable of pulling off a meet with a pr in every event.

Having said that, if Brock puts together a day like he did at Loch Norman, he'll be hard to touch.

You would have be a damn fool to bet against Ryan. Since I'm only a fool I say Ryan.

Tough Call because of the way the events are spaced out.

Sean Betz (he was good at Alva, after an epic journey)

Ryan Vierra (because he is the WORLD champion)

Gregor Edmunds (His strength carries him but on a good day, wow)

Bruce Robb (top six, depends on his hammers, might make him higher)

Larry Brock (Hammers and weights are Larry's forte but the putts. . . .)

And don't count out Bruce Aitken ( broke the ground record at Stonehaven on Saturday in the hammer).

But then again, what do I know!

Ye may be quick,
Ye may be whacky,
But to throw the best...

Ye hae tae use Big Jim's tacky!

It seems the Americans have been nobbled in Scotland just like the Brazilians at the soccer world cup in France a few years back when the hotel staff gave them food poisoning.

Just heard they are all sick and tucked up in their beds in Inverness. Lets hope they all get better by saturday or I`ll have to wipe the dust off me hammer boots.

Where might I be able to find makrs / rankings from Pro or Am Athletes all over the world, not just NASGA stuff? I see the Amercian's marks, and read the names of the other athletes, but have no way of seeing marks.

Best of luck to everyone at Worlds!!!! Go USA!

Thank you,

Bert

For Canadian athletes, see
http://www.csaf.ca/.

Results of some games in Scotland are posted on
Malcolm Cleghorn's board (usually top three per event):

http://p067.ezboard.com/General-Information/fscotlandshighla ndgames81949frm1

The SGA posts limited results (top three per event) of
its games, but it's spotty - for example, they posted
results from Balloch but NOT the heavy events, even
though it's their version of the world championships.

http://www.highlandgames-sga.com/

For the Netherlands and Belgium, try here:

http://www.highlandgamesfederatie.org/RankingRecords.html

Elsewhere, good luck finding anything. You can try
checking the websites of individual games. There are no
international rankings, until the new WC ranking system
goes up.

Don't worry about amateur athletes - that has no real
meaning outside North America.

In regards to WHOM...if you want to be the KING...you have to kill him first...

ALWAYS go with experiance and its really more about WHO all shows up to thrw in a particular individuals weak events so the invites have a lot to do with it.

As I related to a doubtful pro once who questioned Ryans "vitamin" regimen...do you know anyone who wore out 3-VCR's in a years time ?  How about anyone who wore the pads off his feet doing drills.  Find that guy first then ask the QUESTION ....

LONG THROWS to ALL !!!

Have a GREAT Day !
