Oh, I did do one standing long jump last night.

The crossfitters were testing their SLJ, with pretty unimpressive results as they only had one person over 9'.

I jumped once, no warmup, and went 9'1".  Warmup and a few tries and I'd be near 10' I'm sure, which is good for me at this bodyweight.

Anything over 3.00m (10' is about 3.05m) is excellent for your weight.  Was this just onto a rubber floor, or onto mats, or into sand?  A good warm-up helps a lot, then additional jumps tend to be very similar.

My best when I was young and skinny (and very weak by your standards) was 3.14m into sand.  Back then, I could do about 3m anytime, anywhere, but a lot of extra mass makes a huge difference.

Why don't you give it a good shot next workout and test your vertical jump too?

Well training sucks due to the elbow, I'll probably be going to just squatting for at least the next month.

Got the home gym setup about 95% done though and built the platform over the weekend.  We put everything together (with the exception of the Rogue Competition Bumpers) for well under $1k.

Here's what we got going on:

Frantz 55lbs Excalibur Squat Bar
Okie 45lbs Deadlift Bar
Eleiko 15kg Women's OL Bar
Standard 45lbs Bar
Bodysolid Rack
Trotter/Cybex 0-90 Bench
DA-6 Flat Bench
Dumbbells/Kettlebells
Bands
450lbs of Bumper Plates
690lbs of Metal Plates
Rogue Fractional Plates

Platform action:

1st layer of OSB:

Rubber Flooring with the sawzall (advantage - speed; disadvantage - accuracy):

Platform:

Bumper rack (hooray scrap wood!):

Platform/Bench/Bumper Plate Rack/Gun Rack for bars

Nice.  A decently equipped home gym is a beautiful thing!

It is.  I have flowers painted on the side.

She's training for the wiener dog races.

Craigslist for much of the stuff.  This is a short breakdown of some of the basics, in case anyone ever says a home gym is too expensive:

Platform - $200
Rack - $50 (Craigslist)
45lb Olympic Bar, Metal Plates, 20/30/50 DB's, bench (trash), DB handles - $185 (Craigslist)
Trotter/Cybex 0-90 Bench - $100 (Craigslist)
4 - 20kg York Barbell bumper plates - $100 (Craigslist)

So right there you've got a solid setup with everything you need for $635.

Very nice! My only problem with my home gym is celling hight.  No push presses with anying larger than 35's on the bar. It does look impressive with 8 of them on the bar though.Clown

You must have short ceilings, cause I'm good to press in my garage.

Can always move the presses to the driveway imo.

solid..

I ended up getting a rack, 45lb barbell, 2 100lb plates, flat and incline bench for $160 from a local high school off craigslist... picked up 8 45s a bunch of 25/10/5s for another $250ish from play it again sports. built my platform for about $120 but it's got more of a gym floor than a platform you have and a friend of mine got me 4 45lb plates when he lost a bet.. so I think my setup was $500ish. Over time I've added a yoke walk, 12" log press, axle bar, 250lb sandbag, 3 kegs, prowler and some misc other gear. Also got 400, 550 and 850lb tires in the back.

And the last time I trained at home was mid July..  LOL

That's a sick deal as well.

Ya, my platform is srsbizness.  4 sheets of OSB underneath with Birch plywood for the top.

I have other stuff like kegs and farmers handles, but I'll probably end up taking that stuff to the gym as I know I won't use it as home.

Looks nice.  Why not use that stuff at home?  That's the best place for strongman stuff, the neighbors will love it.

Gotcha.

Ya, just use the 35's then.  And if you're push pressing that (8 - 35's)  you may as well get a video to get on the whiteboard imo.

I'm not tech gadget savvy enough to make a video. I just bought my boss the new (I-Phone) so she can as soon as she learns how to use it. LOL

I might start training again someday, if I ever heal up.

More important than that though, is that it's now November.  It's world law that all men grow facial hair.

So I took a break of 30+ days in the hopes that my arm would feel better.  It didn't, so F it, back to the grind.

No sure how much upper body stuff, if any, I'll be able to do.  I'm planning on a doc visit in about 2 weeks, and we'll determine the course of action at that time.  Might have to get cut on, might have to retire.  Who knows.

First squat session in the home/garage gym (which still needs some serious cleaning btw), all seems fine.  I probably won't ever do anything really heavy in the home gym (Smashius Barbell), so I'm planning on switching to a soft belt, as opposed to my 13mm lever, for that work.  I feel like my depth was cut tonight by that belt too, so that's part of the reason.

I put all the bumpers we currently have (sans the big fat York ones) and it came out to 201kg.

1.  Beard (is coming in).
2.  Spandex
3.  Dumping the bar.
4.  Wiener dog.

Saw your Video! Like the home setup. I have similar and its the only place I need to train.
I was wondering if you were seeing an Ortho that specializes in the area of hand and forearm.
I tore my Bracioradialis a few years ago... SUCKED! I went to Occupation hand therapist and they worked wonders on me. Just my 2 cents. Id hate to see you retire you really are too young and you have some amazing throws left in you Im sure. That 92' foot foul was no joke!

Honestly though, the weiner dog makes that vid. Dog is like "..........................'sup?"

Why did you dump the bar?  Just for fun?  As a test?

And, please...Dachshund.

Jay - Yea, my guys are the best in this part of the county for this kind of injury.

Jake - the spandex pants actually weren't very comfortable.

Sean - ok, fine.  No junk pics.

Peter - Yup, the bar dump was just for fun, nothing that heavy had been dropped on the platform.  It's Dachshund in a formal setting, but always Wiener Dog in the gym or whilst training for Wiener Dog Nationals.
