Well that was quite the lay off. A little recap: last week was the Wisconsin gun deer season. Plan was the same as every year, get a doe opening morning then hunt for a buck the rest of the week and lift in between sits. Only the first part really worked out. I got a doe about an hour in to opening morning. Got the deer hung in the garage and skinned out. Figured I'd get a jump on processing the next day since the weather wasn't as cold as I'd like. Lo g story short, I got a little careless with my knife work and ended up putting a good gash in my left index finger. Six stitches later, my stupidity cost me two days of hunting and lifting. I did get some exercise in with a 1/4 mile deer drag and a couple rounds Iof frolf. As of now, everything is looking and feeling good finger-wise. Stitches come out Wednesday, but I felt confident enough to get a lift in tonight.
11/28 squat 135x8, 135x5, 225x5, 275x1, 315x1, 365x1, 385x1, 255x8, 255x8, 255x8, 255x8, 255x8 |

Glad you only cut your finger a little and not other, more important bits!
I was worried you ditched the training log like another, less cool Crowley. Glad you didn't!

I'm going to keep logging even if it is sporadic, boring, and weak. I do it for you.
11/30 bench 135x8, 135x8, 155x5, 175x3, 195x3, 220x4 Paused close grip 220x5, 220x4, 220x4 Wow, this went bad. Not sure what the problem was. I felt really unbalanced and loose and I'm not sure why. I'm a little worried I may have re-aggravated my nerve issue, but I'm going to just chalk it up to a crappy day for now. |

Seems like some long distance voodoo at play....Dr. Big Katie!!!
You may need an equally power Katie to battle her. Also, I am thrilled you are continuing your log.

I've been suggesting a highlander style Katie Crowley battle, but neither seems very receptive. They seem to not agree thay THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
12/2 deads and throws 135x8, 225x5, 315x3, 365x2, 405x2, 405x2, 405x2 I was supposed to do four sets at 405, but I was getting way too much pressure under my newly sealed finger wound. Frolf x18 holes 22lbs Braemar x5 best of 34' 16lbs stands x3 best of 40' 56lbs WFD x3 28, 31, 32 18 more holes of frolf. I PRed with a +1. I lost one disc in the woods and threw one into the pond, but I found a new one in the woods and someone left one in one of the holes, so it's a wash. Happy day. |

Oh man, a all out Katie battle to the death is what the world wants but, alas, we'll have to just use our imaginations.
Some solid training recently! I haven't thrown in what feels like years

I was really happy with how th throws went. Especially the 56. Everything still felt very natural. Maybe year 13 will be my year. Just gotta stay healthy.
12/6 squat 135x8, 135x5, 225x5, 275x1, 315x1, 365x1, 275x6, 275x6, 275x6, 275x6 It was tough to hit the gym today. We're in the midst of our first cold snap of the year and I am not adapted yet. I managed to not be a pussy though, and I'm glad I did. The cold was actually sort of invigorating and things felt pretty good. My throws session last week has showed me that I don't need to be pushing the weights like crazy to throw well. I'm sure I've said that before and then quickly disregarded it and hurt myself, but this time will be different...maybe. |

Every time I think about how long I've been throwing, I can't help but says to myself, "you should be better at this by now." Sigh.
12/7 a bench workout that will not live in infamy 135x8, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 195x3, 230x3. 230x3 Paused close grip 230x3, 230x2 Another very unstable feeling bench workout. I noticed that since it's been cold, the pad on my bench is rock hard. I've got a Benchmark thingie on there for extra stickiness, but the pad itself is so solid I think it might be hindering me. More likely, I just suck. I did use my propane torch to heat up the freezing ass bar which worked really nicely. That made things more comfortable. Anywho, flat bench was crap so I decided to do some DB incline. 60s×8, 70s×8, 80s×6, 60s×10, 60s×10 Kinda awkward but not bad. Odd question, but do you count the first rep on dumbbell exercises? Like when you get the dumbells to your shoulders and press them up, is that the first rep? For whatever reason, I don't start counting until after the first eccentric. Not that it really matters. Just wondering what you other strong guys do. |

I’m not a strong guy but I count that first movement up was a rep. Look at it like this, you could count it as a 1/2 rep, then when you’re finished and bring down that last eccentric movement, it’s the other 1/2 of the first 1/2 rep.

You guys make a lot of sense. The first rep generally sucks the most, so it's reasonable to count it. I think maybe it's just a holdover from back in my high-school football days when we'd grab dumbells that were too heavy and have a spotter bro put the first rep up. Then we would proceed to half rep the shit out of it.

Half reps are twice as fun.
12/11 squat 45x10, 135x8, 225x5, 275x1, 315x1, 365x1, 405x1, 275x6, 275x6, 275x6, 275x6, 275x6 Thus workout went well. I was really happy with how 405 moved. Felt nice and easy. |

12/15 bench
135x8, 135x8, 165x5, 185x5, 210x8 poop Incline dumbbell 60s×10, 65s×10, 65s×10, 65s×10 Flat bench continues to be bad. I think I'm going to start focusing the bulk of my volume on incline just to switch it up. |

DUde im doing the same thing. More applicable to throwing anyway.
I'm also worse at it so my ego hates me but I think it'll translate better. Plus, upper boob meat is the best cut!

I think doing stuff you're bad at is good for the soul. Not that I'm good at flat bench to begin with, but a pattern of getting worse had developed so that signals that enough is enough, and it's time for a change, as Owen Hart would say. Also, I'm severely lacking in upper boob meat.
Speaking of doing stuff I'm bad at: 12/16 deads 135x8, 225x5, 315x3, 365x3, 415x2, 415x2, 415x2, 365x3, 365x3, 365x3 I had been enjoying mixed grip lately because it allows me to get my air at the top and have a much nicer brace, but my stupid deaflift bar ripped the shit out of my hands. The knurling is like needles. Way more aggressive than I need. I like the smaller diameter for my baby hands, but ouch. I bought the bar back when I was a decent deadlifter and was hoping to cheat my way over 600. That was a mistake. |

It explains his lack of cloit development. 1/2 deadlift 135x10, 225x5, 315x3, 365x2, 425x2, 425x2, 425x2 2.5" deficit 365x3, 365x3, 365x3 |
