Awesome throws man. Don't worry about the fouls. It runs in the family. Any day with a PR is a solid day and you had 3 so, I call it a win

I've had just about enough of your logical optimism. 8/10 OHP 5,3,1+,3,5+ 145, 165, 185x2, 165, 145x9 That was poop, but I knew it would be, so no biggie. Also, I ate two BLTs right before my top set. No regrets. Banded OHP 3x10 @95+skinny red bands That was all. Working back into it after competing last weekend. |

8/11 deads
5,3,1+,1+,add 2.5 inch deficit 3,5 375, 425, 455x5, 475x3, 425, 375 So, I'm dumb and put on 25s instead of 35s for my top set hence the double AMRAP. I realized it on rep 5 of 455, so I stopped. These were feeling good today. I would like to know what I could have done had I not wasted my energy on that extra set. Then again, maybe that was just the warm up I needed. I also took a break to eat a burger, grilled taters, and vinegar cucumbers between my 425 and 455 sets. Again, no regrets. Pendlay rows 135x5, 225x5, 225x5 Not worrying about controlling the weight down seems more friendly on my biceps. Still a little bothersome and probably not the best bang for my buck row variation, but they are fun. |

812 throws
Heavyweight 1 turns x4 best of 34' 2 turns x6 best of 42' I could not for the life of my recreate the way I fouled my three throws at the competition. That's probably good, but it weirds me out. Wob pulls @15' branch 6/8 Now that I've gotten the idea of sitting on the weight and being patient now I'm trying to progress to pushing the weight back more and getting a longer sit. I was basically just putting the weight between my heels and pulling. Got ahold of a couple. I think there is potential. Also took one pull with my left hand. Cleared it but hurt my shoulder a bit. |

8/13 lift then throw
Bench 5,3,1+,3,5+ 225, 255, 280x2, 255, 225x10 These felt bad from the start and didn't get any better as I went on. I will forever suck at bench, but I'm getting less mad about it by the day. Incline bench 135x5, 185x5, 205x5, 205x5, random 215 axle press, 205x3 ha. Braemar Fronts x3 best of 30' Regular type x6 best of 33' Open Glides x6 best of 41' Lightweight Fulls x8 best of 65' By Luke's suggestion I gave half a bean more to my first turn in order to even out my speed progression to the sprint which helped me hit a better position from which to finish. The technique isn't all the way there yet, but I think it'll be good. Most of my throws stuck in my hand including my 65 footers (which tells my my timing is a c-hair off). I'm excited to see what is possible as I adapt to this slight modification. Wob pulls 3/5. Left one out front and smashed the branch on the way up on one. Sheaf pulls x6. Took 3 throws to remember how to do it then they went high. |

8/14 squat
5,3,1+,3,5+ 305, 355, 385x10, 355, 315x10 Didn't feel too terrible. I fell back into old habits as I got tired and bottomed out a couple reps before reminding myself to stay tight. It's getting better though. I should probably bump up my numbers a bit. That was all. Might try to hit some accessory stuff later, but honestly I probably won't. |

I actually did do some accessories. I'm as surprised as you are.
Beltless front squat 135x5, 225x5, 275x3, 305x2 getting a bit passy outy, 345x1 getting real passy outy, but I got the rep before the lights went out. This is getting frustrating. They were feeling so good if I could just keep the freaking blood going to my brain. It's been a pattern for the last while and I hate it. Decided to try some SSB front squats 150x3, 260x3, 260x3, 350x1. They felt much better on my brain blood situation, but overall they were awkward. I stopped at 1 rep at 350 because I realized I have no idea how to ditch the bar should I get in trouble. I hope I can get my rack position fixed so I don't have to do these ever again. Just getting the SSB out of the bar holder and into the rack is a whole ordeal in itself. |

Dude, the SSB backwards Front Squat is where it's at. Granted, it doesn't work the upper/mid back like a traditional FS, but I was getting the blacky-outy feelings a lot before. Also my mobility with a front rack is dog shit now sooooo
But I recommend if you dont have spotter arms getting some lengths of chain from the hardware store and a couple carabiners and hang them from your rack as spotters...in case shit gets REAL.

I've got some tow strap spotter dealie, but with the bar puts pressure down with the little arm pad things, I felt like it would just pin me. I have a hard time getting out from under it when it's in the J cups.

Ah yes, I see. You need to increase your Bar Ninja skills. Sometimes, just passing out and falling to the floor in a limp heap works well!

8/16 OHP then throws
5,5,5+,5,5+ 135, 155, 170x5, 155,135x12 Didn't breathe well on my 170 set. Heavy hammer x3 best of 83' Light hammer x3 best of 107' Very light hammer x3 best of 128' Pretty good hammer day for me. I've really been phoning it in on accessory work lately, but I figure that's okay as long as I'm still throwing and holding out hope for another competition to magically appear. |

8/20 squat
5,5,5+,5,switch to front squat 5+ 275, 315, 355x12 (cardio became a factor), 315, 275x10 I switched my last set to front squat because doing 20+reps sounded very terrible. I adjusted my rack position and fronts felt wonderful. No passing out. I was tempted to go up in weight, but more tempted to go to the beach and do a slip n' slide. I'll make sure to update my post with an injury report afterwards. My money is on broken collar bone. |

823 OHP and throws
3,3,3+,3,3+ 140, 160, 180x3 poop, 160, 140x12 Lateral raises drop set 25/15 3x8/8 Heavyweight 1 turns x2 best of 34' 2 turns x6 best of 45' that I fouled wildly out the left side. Everything else was pretty nice and easy 42-44. I'm glad this is starting to click again. It's been a struggle as of late. Braemar x6 best of 33' blah. Hate this stone Open stone Glides x6 best of 43' changed up my foot position in the back. I wasn't getting my right turned and under me in the front, so I pre-turned it a bit in the back. Seemed to help. Light hammer Bladeless x2 beat of 101' PR woot. Second throw I tried to do stuff and smashed the ground With blades x4 best of 106'. Hit the ground on my first throw then settled in to staying long and loose. WOB pulls @15 for branch x 10ish. They were going high. Took about half the throws without hook grip to see if it made any difference. It didn't seem to. |

3,3,3+, add 2" deficit, 3,3 365, 405, 460x5, 405, 365 Pause bellow the knee deads 315x5, 365x3, 395x2x3 Got my invitation to lightweight nationals today. It's in October in Columbus, OH. THe wife and I are planning on taking a long weekend and making a mini vacation out of it with the kiddo. I'm excited and nervous. I don't plan on changing anything training-wise. I feel like what I did for the last games set me up well. Taper the volume of lifts and throws as I get closer and active rest the week before with a heavy-ish squat session 2-3 days out. |

8/25 cabers n' things
I haven't practiced caber in years (probably like ten years) and it shows. Got some turns on two fairly easy cabers, but couldn't turn the terrible, pointy scratchy caber Luke made out of a 6x6. My tiny baby hands were not an advantage. My right shoulder/where my traps should be if I had any area feels like I have a blistery sunburn from the friction. Owie. 220 lbs sandbag to shoulder x6...not in a row. These felt pretty good, but they did remind me that I deadlifted yesterday. A bunch of sheaf pulls. |

Lightweight Fulls x5 best of 63' meh Heavy hammer x5 best of 85' Light hanner x3 best of 100'. I don't wanna talk about it. Threw/punted the ol' pigskin around for a while.
