Throwing Day

500kb swings

Glide drills inside I had gone through with Brian Hare (-15 out there...srsly.)

With bands hooked to squat rack...

Banded push/glide: 8x3

Long split, quick right foot: 8x3

Chair Sit: 8x3

Low band glide: 8x3

Full glides without the band: 15

Feeling more consistent, now need to put it together with the 2nd half of the throw.

Squat:
Up to 5x5@85kg. Felt as light as it was, carbs are a beautiful thing.

Press:
Should be 5x5@47
1. This was tough for some reason. Did four and had to push press the 5th.
2. Just went ahead and push pressed..
3-5 Since I was pp'ing (heehee) I took it up to 50 for remaining sets.

Conditioning: Shovel. Again.

Throwing Day (inside due to 6 degree, sunny day. Pretty but brrrr)

Warmed up with some banded footwork stone drills

Distance (LW): Line drills. These are going much better as I'm a bit more patient waiting for the weight and don't feel as if the world is spinning so bad after a few turns. Footwork feels good. All feels pretty decent.

Hammer (LW & HW): Put some weights on the end of my 12# hammer and just worked the swing. Forgot to do the other side on the heavy weights but did a ton with just the 12. Worked on keeping shoulders straight and chest up. Long arms. Starting to feel better but we'll see when it's time to throw.

Overall a very good day and I'm pooped. I'd like to shout out a very special thank you to Kirk at Winner's Edge in Pewaukee for trusting me (and my tacky) and letting me do this indoors. It'd be so very brrrrr outside which would make me so very grrrrr.

Last day in Brooklyn, trained again at SBWC. What I lack in sleep I've made up in carbs.

Squat:
Up to 5x3@90kg (first set was 5 'till I looked and saw I was doing 3's)

Press:
Up to 5x3@50kg (assumed I would have to push press again but then, well, carbs. Strict pressing was fine, so fine in fact that I went:
1@55
1@60...and failed. But was closer this time. If only I'd have done it before the work sets. If only. 60kg press hates me.

Throwing Day@ Winner's Edge due to Polar Vortex (what a b*tch.)

Stone drills & footwork. Lots of band drills. Feeling good. Hopefully someday I'll actually get to throw to see if it's doing any good. Someday.

Hammer:
Lots of winds, back and forth; side to side; right side; left side. Think hokey pokey with a hammer. Ya, that.

Tweaked my knee on Monday going for my press PR, I think I overextended it slightly trying to squeeze the bar up. Need to keep an eye on it, gets pretty ouchie during throwing drills.

Throwing Day

Either it's 40 below, or it's snowing. So inside we go.

Distance footwork drills; Hammer drills (enough swingies that my ab will be sore for a while); open stone footwork drills.

Trained again at Winner's Edge with the Strongman Saturday crew. Great energy and tons of fun. In my area we had me walking with the hammer; a kick ass young woman training for the upcoming Snowman Strongman contest in a couple of weeks to raise $$ for Van Hatfield's daughter, Breann; and a couple of young football players running drills with a former throws coach from Madison. And that was just our little patch of turf. The Strongman were also training for the Snowman. It was awesome. It was also touching how trusting everyone is of my tacky as they stand around watching me do my hammer winds. I'm exhausted and sore but had a blast!

Power Cleans:
Up to 55kg. Slow pull, power clean with two power jerks following x5.

Just trying to stay tight and keep moving since moar snow hijacked throwing plans. It could very well be reality that I not throw before The Arnold. So that'll be interestingBig smile

You get the job. It's 17, closer than what the pro's have achieved all week. Not to nitpick though; however; you did forget the standard:

*chance of clouds
*chance of sun
*chance of snow
*chance of rain/sleet
*chance I'm completely pulling all of this out of my arse
