    Posted: 4/09/16 at 11:29am
A year plus later, I'm still training and throwing. I just competed in Nationals Masters weightlifting and did as good as I could but I have a lot of work to do with my lifts. I'm also working with Mike Westerling for help in my lifts and my programming to balance the weightlifting and the throwing to avoid driving myself into the ground by June (which I tend to do.)

I'm still writing too...sporadically. When the mood hits.

No confusion, I've seen Pulp Fiction enough times that I could honestly quote the whole thing. It's one of my favorites.

The criticism came when referencing that somehow 135# (presumably "two wheels" but who cares) is more impressive "looking" than 60kg. And then bringing in one of the greatest Clean & Press' of history as being 500# as some kind of exclamation point.

The Russian's lift was 230kg. Weightlifting numbers are kg, but we have to put pounds in parenthesis so the general public can understand the feat of strength since 2.2# per kg isn't well known here in 'merika. If you train in Kg you know that.

My point was A. looking cool(er) has nothing to do with serious training and 2. bringing into reference one of the best lifts in history has absolutely nothing to do with me or my PR or my log.

Obviously.

Well, I lulzed at Tom's post and also am very thankful for the props. It's a good lift and I'm proud of it.

Josh, Alexeev actually clean and pressed 230kg which equals 507 pounds. How do I know this? Because I am a big fan of the press and have been watching the video for years. Think it's a coincidence that I married one of the best pressers in the world? (I'm a lucky girl.)

No one who trains seriously cares how cool something looks, only that strength is expressed. I train seriously, and I hit a lift that is very good. Never mind that I'm a month out from 48.

I can see why people hate NASGA.

Thanks though. I may try on Saturday to up it to 62kg, my 60 went up pretty good after one minor sticking point. But 60 has been my goal and I'm happy.

Seriously though, thank youTongue.

Press: Up to heavy single
60kg- PR.

Totally stoked, I've been working on this for a year an a half. Missed it last year coming out of high volume and got it today. This makes me very happy. A strong strict press is happy.

Squat:
3x2@50kg

I'm going into a deload, probably for a few weeks. I've been struggling with inflammation and I'm concerned about the effects it's having on me systemically. I haven't felt good since my last deload in November. I want to feel that good again. Heh.

Squat: Up to 5x10@78kg
So long 10's. I don't want to see you for another year. True story.

Press: Up to 5x10@38
Ran out of time here. Did one set of 10 and then 4x5@40kg

I'm very thankful to SouthSide Bully for letting me hang and train. They were very good sessions. Truth be told; however; I've had my fill of public gyms for the year. Back home tomorrow.

Thank you for asking Tom, that is really nice of you. But, no dice. I can't find a qualifying meet in time and Pan Am registration has opened which means it will fill up quickly. I'm #84 on the Arnold waiting list which would have worked qualify wise but that's not happening. I guess I'm just a thrower this season. I will pay closer attention for American Master's registration next fall. My total of 142 this past December should qualify me for that meet or I can catch another local one this summer. All I need is an 85kg total so I can hit that in a meet without too much interruption to throwing...I hope. I was very disappointed because I think I could do very well at Pan Am's and Worlds but oh well. Such is life. There are far worse things.

Masters Pan Am's are in Puerto Rico next year...so there's thatWink

Thanks again! It's VERY kind of you to ask.

Back to Southside for some distance drills. Brought the 14 and 21. Finally put together the "sprint to the finish" stuff. I guess it takes time to click. By the way my left hip feels now, I was doing it right. Ouchie. The light weight is fine but I noticed with the heavier weight, on my second turn I'm allowing my left foot to come up way too high so I need to practice jamming it into the ground. Overall very happy that this now makes sense and I can feel it. I'm very excited to get outside and test it out.

After: 10 minutes on the treadmill. I pretty much have shin splints now from all the cardio. Goody.

Training at SouthSide Bully this week. Lots of indoor throwing.

Indoor Shot: Just worked on a push and block. Didn't worry about anything else.

Bench: 5x10@46 So uninterested in bench.

20 Minutes on Eliptical. That is, until I remembered that I hate Elipticalling. Lasted a minute and a half and went for Brisket.

Played hooky on Friday from hot yoga. Went to lunch with my daughter instead, McBob's fish fry. Totally worth it.

Snatch warm upx3 w/EB

Snatch Balance- I'm too far forward on my snatch pulls. This helped a bit but on the last one I went ahead and did a behind the neck, snatch grip push press:
15kgx3, 25x3, singles @ 35, 40, 45, 50

PowerSnatch: Singles@ 40, 45, 48, 50, 55

Snatch High Pull: 65x2, 70x2, 73x2

I'm loving the 'behind the neck' and high pulls. Today felt much better than the last couple of sessions partly due to my linguine last night but a good session makes me a happy jp.

That's on me, I haven't done a good job at keeping an eye on USAW events and come to the party a day late each time it seems so these things are filling up before I register. As much as it would be nice to lift next weekend, the crucial meet is the Arnold to get that PanAm qualifying total at a National level meet before THAT registration opens and I miss it again. I'm on that wait list too.

Jumbling lifting schedule around for the next two weeks. I'm on a wait list for a Weightlifting meet next Saturday in Minnesota so will lift today since I can't on Saturday just in case. The work will get in, it'll just be a bit ADD plus I get a week at SouthSide Bully to throw indoors (the shot anyway) and drill so I'll take advantage of that.

Snatch:
W/U
4@35, 4@40, 2@45, 2@50, 1@55, 1@60

Clean & Jerk:
4@45, 4@50, 2@60, 2@65, 1@75, 1@80

Jerk Supports:
1x5@245#

This will sufficiently drive me into the ground but with hot yoga tomorrow and two days rest this weekend I'll be fine on Monday for hot yoga again and lifting later in the week. That's the plan anyway.
