Fair Hill Colonial Highland Gathering, Elkton, MD

PROS: Mike Zolkewicz, Jeff Kaste, Nathan Burchett, Rob Meulenberg, Sean Urquhart, Beau Fay, John Collins, Dave Barron, Sam Grammer, Nikita Marzano

22# Hammer- 109'5 PR finally
16# Ostone- 49'3
HWFD- 44'8
LWFD- 81'6
Caber (18'6, 130#)- 12:10
Sheaf- 27'
WOB-15'

Overall: 2nd.

The first time I've been to Fair Hill with good weather and it was a blast! Very happy to put together a Heavy hammer PR, probably helped that we did it first event of the day but still, very pleased. Weights went really well minus me accidentally throwing one LWFD into the grand stands. No one was hit but the mental damage was done sadly. Luckily, they got the hint and all moved out of the danger zone. Caber was another highlight, been 2 years since I turned this stick.

Thank you to Jon Finnie and John Strong for having me out again, love this games! Thank you to Nikita and Frank for letting me crash at your place, so much fun.

Alma in a few days, gonna be another battle.

Alma Highland Games, Alma, MI

PROS: Kevin Becker, Luke Crowley, Adam Brezina, Jeremy Gillingham, Jeff Kaste, Sean Urquhart, Adam Sizemore, Tom Sroka, John Pilling

20# Alma OStone- 42'2.5 (PR with this monstrosity)
HWFD- 42'
22# Hammer- 103'2
WOB- 15'
LWFD- 77'9.5
Caber (19'10, 110) 3:00
25# Sheaf- 21'

Overall: 1st.

Pretty happy with how I competed even though numbers were fairly "meh". It was a muddy/slick field from downpours the night before and brutally humid/hot. Despite this, we all had a great time and there was a great crowd. Big thanks to Nate Parker for hosting me and the rest of the goons and treating us like fat kings at his house.

Short recovery for this week and then throwing again on Friday in Perth-Andover!

Gathering of the Scots, Perth-Andover, NB, Canada

17.5# Ostone- 44'3
HWFD- 40'3
LWFD- 75'10
22# Hammer- 106'5
16# Hammer- 128'3
Caber (20', 95#)-1:00
WOB-14'

Overall: 1st

Due to the Gathering hosting the Canadian Women's Nationals, the open class had to throw on Friday. I decided it would still be great to see my Canadian pals despite a 6 hours drive the morning of the games. Turned out well regardless. I felt ok, but clearly my pop had been sapped by my drive or something. Either way, had a great time and a nice Light hammer number. I love seeing Dirk, Framer, Scott McHugh and everyone else who goes to that game.

I then got to judge the Juniors the next day which was a nice experience for me as well. Makes me wish the US had a more established Juniors division!
