OK, I know so little about this that I'm not sure I can ask the question right but here goes...Does anyone know some good conditioning workouts or resources for such?  I now have something resembling a cardiovascular base again but am bored silly on those various inside  equipment pieces.  You know, the things people wear spandex on.  I want to do things like plyo's, jumping etc. to get the heart up in a more strength benificial way but haven't done that in decades (probably before some of you could walk).  If this makes sense please guide me.....

Sled (or car) pushing, sled/tire dragging, high rep kettlebell/"Romanian Core Blaster" swings (and kettlebell snatches if you have the required technique), pounding a sledgehammer on an old tire, lifting and tossing a moderately heavy rock repeatedly for high reps, possibly running up hills and walking down slowly, possibly running up long flights of stairs and walking down, etc., etc.  Or, as Hapy noted, play games like hockey, soccer, squash, basketball, etc.

Plyos, jumping, etc. are not "conditioning exercises" but are done to develop power and explosiveness.  As such, you should not do these to exhaustion or even really feel tired when doing them, as this would not result in the desired adaptation.

I make myself climb the stairs to the fourth floor in my building once a day. Because the basement where I work has a  7 foot plenum, in fact it's like climbing 5 flights.

Sometimes....like just about a half hour ago....just for the hell of it I'll go climb those five flights twice. That gets the heart beating and works out the kinks.

If I lived where there was snow I would spend a lot of time on snowshoes and XC ski's. I swear, there is no better cardio workout than blasting 10K on XC ski's.

use your imagination in the gym, i have gotten into medly's! i'll do a 100ft. farmers walk, go right into a 150lb. rock lift and drop [5-8 reps] and then a dumbell snatch [changing hands ea.set] do 3-4 sets with a couple 3 minutes tween sets. you can come up with any trio you want, its quite a break from traditional training now and then, and it'll tear ya up!
