Dude...think I am going to break a sweat just watching that work out.
First...has anyone actually tested this guy's deadlift plates? I seriously think they may be those fake movie/tv weights...you know the ones made of styrofoam and painted.
Couple of questions from someone that has never lifted dynamically in his life....
1) In that squat jump thing...why are you leaning so far forward? Are you trying to replicate something in the games? (Personally I'd stay more in a squat lean with chest up more...so wondering if I'd be doing it wrong.)
2) What are you trying to work in the roll up with KB? I can see that it is probably a great crossfit/core kinda thing, but do you have a sport specific reason for it?
Great box work and I love that KB/band exercise...that is good stuff.

The Story of Deirdre
There was a man in Ireland once who was called Malcolm Harper. The man was a right good man, and he had a goodly share of this world's goods. He had a wife, but no family. What did Malcolm hear but that a soothsayer had come home to the place, and as the man was a right good man, he wished that the soothsayer might come near them. Whether it was that he was invited or that he came of himself, the soothsayer came to the house of Malcolm. Just out of the chat. http://www.superpowerleveling.com/powerleveling.asp - World of Warcraft power leveling ,
And the soothsayer went forth out of the house and he was not long outside when he returned.
"Well," said the soothsayer, "I saw in my second sight that it is on account of a daughter of yours that the greatest amount of blood shall be shed that has ever been shed in Erin since time and race began. And the three most famous heroes that ever were found will lose their heads on her account."
After a time a daughter was born to Malcolm, he did not allow a living being to come to his house, only himself and the nurse. He asked this woman, "Will you yourself bring up the child to keep her in hiding far away where eye will not see a sight of her nor ear hear a word about her?" http://www.replicawatchesguide.com/replica-rolex-watches.asp - replica rolex , The woman said she would, so Malcolm got three men, and he took them away to a large mountain, distant and far from reach, without the knowledge or notice of any one. He caused there a hillock, round and green, to be dug out of the middle, and the hole thus made to be covered carefully over so that a little company could dwell there together. This was done. This site is on the Crushers£ºsbm¡£
Deirdre and her foster-mother dwelt in the bothy mid the hills without the knowledge or the suspicion of any living person about them and without anything occurring, until Deirdre was sixteen years of age. Deirdre grew like the white sapling, straight and trim as the rash on the moss. She was the creature of fairest form, of loveliest aspect, and of gentlest nature that existed between earth and heaven in all Ireland--whatever colour of hue she had before, there was nobody that looked into her face but she would blush fiery red over it. http://www.rarereplica.com/replica-watches.asp - replica rolex , The woman that had charge of her, gave Deirdre every information and skill of which she herself had knowledge and skill. There was not a blade of grass growing from root, nor a bird singing in the wood, nor a star shining from heaven but Deirdre had a name for it. But one thing, she did not wish her to have either part or parley with any single living man of the rest of the world. But on a gloomy winter night, with black, scowling clouds, a hunter of game was wearily travelling the hills, and what happened but that he missed the trail of the hunt, and lost his course and companions. A drowsiness came upon the man as he wearily wandered over the hills, and he lay down by the side of the beautiful green knoll in which Deirdre lived, and he slept. The man was faint from hunger and wandering, and benumbed with cold, and a deep sleep fell upon him. When he lay down beside the green hill where Deirdre was, a troubled dream came to the man, and he thought that he enjoyed the warmth of a fairy broch, the fairies being inside playing music. The hunter shouted out in his dream, if there was any one in the broch, to let him in for the Holy One's sake. Deirdre heard the voice and said to her foster-mother: "O foster-mother, what cry is that?" "It is nothing at all, Deirdre--merely the birds of the air astray and seeking each other. But let them go past to the bosky glade. There is no shelter or house for them here." "Oh, foster-mother, the bird asked to get inside for the sake of the God of the Elements, and you yourself tell me that anything that is asked in His name we ought to do. If you will not allow the bird that is being benumbed with cold, and done to death with hunger, to be let in, I do not think much of your language or your faith. But since I give credence to your language and to your faith, which you taught me, I will myself let in the bird." http://www.topSwissreplica.com - replica rolex ,And Deirdre arose and drew the bolt from the leaf of the door, and she let in the hunter. She placed a seat in the place for sitting, food in the place for eating, and drink in the place for drinking for the man who came to the house. "Oh, for this life and raiment, you man that came in, keep restraint on your tongue!" said the old woman. "It is not a great thing for you to keep your mouth shut and your tongue quiet when you get a home and shelter of a hearth on a gloomy winter's night."
"Well," said the hunter, "I may do that--keep my mouth shut and my tongue quiet, since I came to the house and received hospitality from you; but by the hand of thy father and grandfather, and by your own two hands, if some other of the people of the world saw this beauteous creature you have here hid away, they would not long leave her with you, I swear."
"What men are these you refer to?" said Deirdre.
"Well, I will tell you, young woman," said the hunter. This is the next
"They are Naois, son of Uisnech, and Allen and Arden his two brothers." http://www.Perfectreplicawatches.com - replica rolex , "What like are these men when seen, if we were to see them?" said Deirdre.
"Why, the aspect and form of the men when seen are these," said the hunter: "they have the colour of the raven on their hair, their skin like swan on the wave in whiteness, and their cheeks as the blood of the brindled red calf, and their speed and their leap are those of the salmon of the torrent and the deer of the grey mountain side. And Naois is head and shoulders over the rest of the people of Erin."
"However they are," said the nurse, "be you off from here and take another road. And, King of Light and Sun! in good sooth and certainty, little are my thanks for yourself or for her that let you in!"
The hunter went away, and went straight to the palace of King Connachar. He sent word in to the king that he wished to speak to him if he pleased. The king answered the message and came out to speak to the man. "What is the reason of your journey?" said the king to the hunter. Just out of the chat. http://www.fashionweddingowns.com/wedding-dresses.asp - wedding dress , Connachar, King of Ulster, sent for his nearest kinsmen, and he told them of his intent. Though early rose the song of the birds mid the rocky caves and the music of the birds in the grove, earlier than that did Connachar, King of Ulster, arise, with his little troop of dear friends, in the delightful twilight of the fresh and gentle May; the dew was heavy on each bush and flower and stem, as they went to bring Deirdre forth from the green knoll where she stayed. Many a youth was there who had a lithe leaping and lissom step when they started whose step was faint, failing, and faltering when they reached the bothy on account of the length of the way and roughness of the road.

Great video and thanks. There was talk about rolling the bar when pulling, but if you look, the bar stops prior to the the pull. You just have it out in front to be comfortable on the wrap up.

It's been a good week in the gym. PR'd in my power snatch on Saturday, then tonight hit a 702lb deadlift for another PR. I'll be deloading the next week and a half....thankfully too, I'm tired. In fact I was surprised I was able to pull 700 after an exhaustive plyo session on Sunday night.

If you did that Tuesday after heavy plyos Sunday, then that isn't your max.
Your gym is too crowded. I thought you were going to goose the mullet doing the curls with a bar loaded with 702.

Ok, seen this a couple times now on different works from people....why use the bar for single hand power snatches? I use the dumbbells for single hand and the bar for two hand. I don't get the use of the bar for single hand.

Have you actually tried box jumps, that is, jumping from a seated or standing position up ONTO a box? While these might be an issue if you already have really bad knees, the landing forces involved are minimal compared to depth jumps, hurdle hops, or "bunny hops".
The only issue is that unlike depth jumps, hurdle hops, and bunny hops, these only work your explosive strength and do little or nothing to improve your reversal strength. However, the risks of doing the more advanced plyos are just too great for many athletes, especially those who are older or heavier, as the forces involved can be very significant and dangerous for those who are not sufficiently physically prepared.

My background was mostly soccer and rugby. I was very light when I was a jumping bean. I weighed 165 or so, and it was all in my legs. Heck, my legs were probably bigger then than they are now, since my knees are so bad now.
I came to HG way too late, unfortunately. I'm no longer throwing, because my recovery has gotten to be so poor that I can hardly train. It was very frustrating, because I was just gettin' the hang of it.

To identify the onset of true overtraining. You've got excellent recovery, but that's just the kind of guy it sneaks up on. It takes forever to recover from overtraining, but no time at all to avoid it: if your resting heart rate starts to climb, back off on the volume/intensity in the gym. Frankly, when you see it go up, you realize you kind of knew it already.

Haven't been updating this as much lately. Here's a rundown from the last few days up to today:
Monday:
Close Grip Power Snatch (thumbs touching) - up to 205 x1
Front Squat up to 460
Glute/Ham
RDLs - up to 500x3
Tuesday:
Behind the Neck Push Press (do drop under) up to 365
Incline Bench up to 350
Kroc Rows - 120's x20
Chins
Kettlebell Run
Thursday:
Deadlift - 730x1 (PR)
Glute Ham
Snatch off Bench
I'm going to switch things up next week and back off heavy deadlifting. At this point I'm happy with the weight pulled and want to focus more on my front squat and power snatch for the next 2 months. All the heavy deadlifting has not impacted my explosiveness (as judged by jump tests performed last weekend) but I do want to finish the offseason with some oly lifting PRs.

Today: Green Band Resisted Deads (set up like previous). Worked up to an easy 5 hundee for a single. If they weren't so damn taxing I'd try to push these.
Single Arm BB Snatch with no drop under - multiple sets at 140lbs
Chins - 3x5
Explosive GM's - Worked up to 315 but I can't handle that much weight. In fact, anything over 275 doesn't feel good. I think this is going to be a risk/reward type situation.
Just a quick note on foam rollers. I've been using them after every lift for the last 3 weeks and have noticed a significant difference in my recovery, mobility and general quality of life. Might be a smart investment for some of you.

Craig,
Given your hardcore approach to things, you should proceed directly to PVC pipe. Either works wonders. Remember, the more it hurts, the more you need to do it. Expect rapid improvements though.

Hmmm....every other night I curse the invention of foam rolling. Seriously. It HURTS....it hurts on my thighs, it hurts on my IT band, it hurts on my calves.
Pretty much only place it doesn't hurt is my back...but then I am only using it there to pop my back.
If this ever turns out to have been a gimmick/fad and fades away in future...I will be SO MAD! I am still on a 6" white foam roller that I had to order from online.

I made one for 6 dollars with a 5"pvc pipe, a camping pad and some 3M sticky spray. I have also been amazed at how much less I now dread heavy squats and such. major quality of life improvement is right...

Once I do something worth filming, I'll post it. I did bang out 635x2 in the dead today, though. You know, just cause someone did it for a single.

Heeellllloooooo NASGA
After a year hiatus from logging, I am going to try and get this sucker rolling again. I plan on a few updates for week or two. Nothing crazy, but something to keep me accountable. Here's where I am:
This past season was rough. I severely injured my back last December and it effectively cost me my offseason. I was not able to meet any strength goals and had to postpone any outdoor training for about a month and a half. The result was a terrible start to the 2013 season. I did see some improvement as the season wore on, but I never got to where I wanted to be. I recorded my worst ever placing at the Canadian Championships and was wildly erratic at big international meets. It was frustrating. 2014 marks my 11th season as a professional. At the age of 30 I find myself being the most experienced man at most competitions I attend. Weird. Despite that, I am as hungry as ever to reclaim the Canadian title - number 7 - and make a mark internationally.
This offseason will be challenging for other reasons. I am delighted to say that my wife and I are expecting our first child this March. We are beyond excited but preparing for a serious lifestyle change. I am not sure how this will effect my training aside from the predicted loss of sleep. I have a feeling it will actually motivate me.
Anyway, my plan is to train smart and hard. I have to avoid anything that will compromise my back, but not limit myself to an overly cautious approach. I have some strength goals to meet and plan to keep throwing outside as long as the weather permits. With that:
1st session back after the season. Plan is for a few weeks of conditioning to lean out. BW 272lbs.
Barbell Complex 1 - 135lbs - Done in succession - Deadlift x8, SGRDL x8, SG Shrug x8, SG High Pull x5, Hang Snatch x5, Front Squat x6, Press x6
Again. Gassed.
Again. Super Gassed.
Again. Damn I am out of shape.
Incline DB Press - 60/70lbs x12 , curls, triceps push down
Outside - Stadium stair sprints x5
Home - Protein/Fats/Waxy Maise - cold shower. Anti-inflams. Supper.

^100% truth
In fact, if you want to train, you'll get way less sleep than you ever thought possible.
I'm up at 4am 4 days/week to go train. Then at 5am on sundays to throw. I'd love to sleep in on Saturdays but my wife takes care of the kids all those other days so I let her sleep in.
In essence, I never sleep in. *sigh*

Greg, first congrats.
Second, to keep your sanity, stop at one kid. LOL.
Third, you will have less sleep to start, but for me, my kid was very agreeable and was sleeping through the night a 3-4 months. Win.
Fourth, training may not may not take a hit...it depends on you (and your wife). You have psychos like Sullivan and Langford who train at f'that o'clock. I still train at my normal times in the evening. And every Saturday morning.
BUT, the key is, since my wife is cool about my training, I need to be uber-agreeable whenever she needs a break. Worked for me. YMMV.

Love that meme. Hilarious.
Jake, I don't know how you do those 4am sessions. I can't ever see myself getting up that early to train. What time do you go to bed?
Rob, good advice.
Yesterday's session:
5 min of stationary bike. Some old school static stretching to work out the DOMS I am suffering through from Wednesday.
Barbell Complex 2 - Deadlift, DL Shrug, High Pull from the floor, Clean and jerk. All done in succession. 3 sets at 135lbs. 2 sets at 185lbs. Gassed.
Chest supported rows Triceps pushdown
Outside: Tire slams with 12lb sledgehammer. 25 strikes/30s trikes/35 strikes/40 strikes. In between each set I did backward sled drags with 100lbs of plate weight. 3 steps, row. 3 steps row. 4x's the width of a Canadian football field. Gassed.
Back at it Monday.
