I just talked to the legend and he is being very humble. I am super proud
of him!!!
IMO, that's the best record to own in this sport when you consider the
amount of rediculously strong men that have tried the wob.

Wow!

Amazing!

Mike has a lot more in him.  He had a tough time dialing it in, because he was trying to throw from his most efficient position, and it wasn't working for him today.  He reluctantly took what he was offered by taking a step forward to make the throw.  When he dials it in, there's no saying how high he'll throw.

Mike was mobbed by kids who wanted his autograph.  Nobody went away unhappy.

Tommy DeBruijn had Mike talking to Wout Zijlstra from the field minutes later:  that was very, very cool.

Mike is way cool with the fans...remember a few years back when some "special fans" came to cheer us on and 2 athletes stepped up and hung with these kids and made them feel like a million bucks and it was Mike Z and Tommi Nelson-2 class acts in the highland games

the weight weighed in at 57.1 pounds. I'd say 19' is royally screwed.

Wow Meat!  Can't believe no one asked yet - did he take off his shirt for the final toss?  If not, then 19 is ready to go down.

I agree with an earlier post that the Ranking system doesn't give a bonus for a world record... would be cool to see a 1000 point bonus (in addition to all the rest of the scores) if you set a WR in a season - even a 500 point bonus for an AR would be appropriate.  As mentioned in Mike's case, crowds go nuts, autographs get signed... very cool stuff.

Way to go Mike!

Does anyone have a list of previous WOB record holders? Would be good to see just how awesome the strength tradition is in this event.

True history made.  Okay, this is the year.  Mike hits 19+ and someone finally goes 50 feet in the 56 wfd.

Great work Zolk, definately the most impressive throw I've ever seen, including beating me by 15 minutes to take 1st in the challenge caber.
