This was NOT my big work set, and there was a lift or two filmed with bigger weights, but i'm gonna surpass those before the deadline, so i'm keeping 'em to myself Anyhoo, here's a preview...

Yup, sometime training at the local rec center is where it's at ;-) Gym variety is nice sometimes.
Dan, that's not the front desk to the whole place, but the rack is still pretty open right there.
Terry, usually about once a month. Seriously. But not as often as i play on the frog slide in the water park area.

It's not so much the weight limit on the frog slide, as it is the size of the opening in his mouth. It is truly a test to squeeze head first into that thing. It kinda looks like this one:

Wait 'till you have kids. the best part is taking them to things like that.."Daddy, will you go on with me?", "Well, if HAVE too." Craig, I saw you using the wrist straps for F.squats in another vid and looked like you were there as well. I'll feel like less of a wuss if you do it.

Craig... nice lift - still looks like a mall in the background . Maybe I missed the answer, but why do you use straps for front squats?
Nice depth also... wish everyone video'd their performance. I'll try and get mine out in the near future. Not nearly the same scenery in the background, but the weights are real as are is the footware .

Dave - I use the straps because im not flexible enough to clean grip the bar. They allow me hold the bar and keep my elbows high.
Hadley - nope, not yet. I'm really trying to give the hip flexor a good healing before i try to pull big. Usually when you miss a weight like that, it's time to stop deadlifting for a few weeks.

I honestly had no idea. I have 2 as well. 4 years and 1 & 1/2 years old, both boys.
So anyway, I'm glad you use the wrist straps because if you do it that way then it is automaticly the cool way to do it, simply because that is how you do it. No further rationale is needed. Therefore I am absolved of all feelings of whimpyness for using them.

Coach - you pretending like you don't understand just makes it funny.
Of course we can both post about our children. The difference being is that when mine are old enough to post themselves, if they are interested, they will post. If they want to be included in something, they will let everyone know. Everyone on the testing chart is an active participant on the board. I like Luke, hope to see him this coming year. I wish he was involved enough in highland games to post here, i think he could add quite a bit to our discussions.
Maybe over the holidays you can mention that we would like to have him here? Have a Merry Xmas as well.
Perhaps we should both also restrict any further passive-aggresive posts and keep em to PMs? Just a thought....

Coach Mac...if your* finding ths HILARIOUS...I'm finding it a rip-roaring good time ...
It wasn't just wanting Luke to post his results as much as it was wanting to have him on the board, but obv you chose to interpret with blinders on. It's a good thing that no one else on this board works full time, coaches, trains, AND has kids or a family or anything like that. Imagine if we did though, no one would ever post here.... Good thing we are unemployed, dont train, and have no other commitments so we can just sit around on the internet all day. I didn't realize that my request to have Luke post was sooooooooooooo absurd?
Like i have previously said, i keep this file on my work computer, and therefore update when im at work. Since you have no idea of MY actual schedule, perhaps i should write down how busy my life is for you?
As for you continuing to post your coaching (one who trains and instructs, iirc). How about posting a entire offseason schedule. What would you do if you could coach a top 10 pro for the entire offseason. I think that would a great post and very insightful. Good coaching insight right there that im sure the board would appreciate.
Since we're both having such a good time with this, i await your post. Especially since the hint to remove the passive-aggressive nature was ignored.
*grammatical error still included to stay in line with the original post.

Craig... I'll try too keep it short and too the point and keep Sigmund Freud out of the conversation
A) just couldn't understand WHY the leader of your contest was not included and held to a different standard ...period !
B) In terms of wrting up a complete off season program for a top -10 Pro. I've consulted with Ryan Vierra---Ken Lowther---HB-3---Will B---Dave B--- and Sean Betz over the years and since a lot of what I do is individual THEY would be much more intresting in terms of variety and perhaps make for a great E-zine ?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. NOW i get it. Of course we will recognize the LEADER of the contest. I had no idea of the significance that it held. Here you go:

I am very basic I will agree, but why not get down to it already and say it clear what your problem is and call him a butt head or what ever. I just am not down with hiding behind some veiled references. I think Craig was asking for imput from Luke, not his numbers.
It is offseason coach, why not tell us what you fixed on Ryan, how you helped HB, Bettered Betz, something we can work with. Not some wild theory, some over the head reference, but coach us up at the place we are. Pass some of that knowledge on bro, don't hold on to it. Bert gives us tons of things we can use. We have all your references, clearly you know all the good throwers, we are convinced, I met you in person and found you very hospitable, almost southern like. Now, Like you said, give us something, I mean besides your hacked at C and the dude Steve in California. We all have that lesson down.

Craig...read below---enter your trophy perhaps a chance for some easy money ...

Organizers seek designs for 2008 Olympic medals (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-01-11 15:55
BEIJING, January 11 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Olympic organizers (BOCOG) launched a worldwide competition on Wednesday to seek the design of the medals for the 2008 Games.
The gold medal of Roma Olympics in 1964. |
"Design proposals are expected to interpret the themes and values of the Olympic movement with Chinese style, culture and spirit," Zhang Ming, deputy director of BOCOG's culture and ceremonies department, told a press conference.
A judging panel made up of BOCOG officials and experts will evaluate all the entries after the solicitation campaign ends.
"Eight designs shall make a shortlist with each winning a prize money 20,000 yuan (about 2,500 US dollars)," said Zhang.
"The judging panel will then pick three out of the eight shortlisted candidates and they will scoop a further 30,000 yuan (about 3,750 US dollars) apiece," she added.
As required by the BOCOG, a complete set of proposal should be composed of the images of both the obverse and the reverse of the medal, the medal ribbon, the medal presentation box and diploma.
In line with the IOC practice, the obverse of the medal of the Olympic Games uses the uniform image featuring the winged depiction of standing Goddess of Victory and the panorama of Greek Panathinaiko Stadium. The wording on the obverse of the medal is XXIX OLYMPIAD BEIJING 2008.
So Luke may actually get on here to try and accept his award although (hopefully) this motivational -contest --off season ect-ect is NOT over ?
Luke is un ashamed in the fact that he practiced specifically less than 5-times for the games and is supplementing his income while training too make the USA Olympic Team and that takes:

Coach, I don't need Carlos for a total. I read your stuff. I would not guess it is even near half, I would be shocked if it was even 10% negative. I don't want you to shut down. Don't even think that way, not an option. You have way too much stuff in that noggin to keep, we or at least I need it. And I like some jockularity with discussion. I did see the chart with the reps on 5 x 5. That is just what I am talking about. You taught me something there, and it is not the first time. I doubt I will ever teach you anything on tossing, I just hope in some way I can inspire you, but thanks and am appreciative to you Sir.
