# 1 best = hammer winds = 10 each way (yes,if you wind the OPPOSITE way - you'll throw normal better- thanks Will Barron- great core stuff) slow and long arms , 3-4 sets(hint - use double sided tape on handle so you don't have to mess w. tacky).....#2 = do the same thing w. a 25lb - 45lb plate - focus on proper positions. I use it as a warm up before lifting.

In my gym we have a set of the dbells that you can put wt on yourself.  I use to take those and do hammer winds every morning.  I would do 5 sets just like regular hammer.  I focus the most on long arms and the final pull and block phase.   I also put a small rope thru one of the core balls.  Thats a med ball with a handle.  Or my favorite is  putting a rope thru weight plates  get a couple of 10 pound wts and put the rope thru them and there you go.  This really helped me out a few yrs ago when i had trouble breaking 100.  Hope this helps

Excuse my ignorance as I'm new to this, but I always thought hammer winds were just like the regular hammer without the release. So my question is, what is a hammer wind and how do you do it? Was I right in my assumption, just like a hammer but no release?

yes travis  you just wind the hammer like  you were going to throw it but do not release it.

Larry your throwing like 5 times a week right now i am sure of it.  You better be because Craig said he was going to take your hammer title from you next yr.

Mike ,, Thanks .... That felt great using the plates !

Larry ... I would .. but it's hard to find the hammers in the snow !

As soon as I can , I'm going to start throwing inside a huge warehouse ! With the indoor hammer I made out of chain !  Works Great !
