Just dropping in to introduce myself.  New thrower, in the tri-cities area of Michigan.  Will be throwing in the Midland Games.

I suck the least at open stone and hammer, the most at Sheaf, HWFD, and WOB.  Rest are suckage level in the middle.  Hope to improve in the next few weeks and put up some reasonable numbers come mid-June.

Welcome Riddle. Most of the Mich. throwers are down in your area or south so you should get a chance to practice with some good guys. I can't make Midland because of a work related conflict but looking forward to meeting you. Bill Gordon in the U.P.

PS-I'm having a couple games up here in the U.P. your welcome to throw in if you wanted to come up. Mid-July and Aug.4

Thanks Bill.  I've thrown with Kip Miller and Ivor Alcorn already, I'm close to Ivor (I live in Midland), and will try to get down to practice with him a couple more times hopefully before the Midland Games.

Could you make that throw when it matters...as it matters in battle? Could you crush a man with that throw?

Are you going to be at Alma? You can meet a lot of other throwers there and maybe glean some technique (if you're not watching me).

I was planning, and still hopefully can, to go and watch.  My brother-in-law decided to visit that weekend, maybe i'll drag him and the wife and daughter down with me.

Chris,

Will you be making the pilgrimage back to Maine this year?

Leroy has some good stuff planned.

managed to take first in the Am As in the open stone, then it went downhill.  Stepped on the trigg twice on the HWD, and went really conservative/skeered on my third.  Hence the discrepancy between HWD and LWD.  Still need to put more into the HH, and need to not be so timid on the pick for the caber, picked it three times e-z, and managed to not be aggressive enough getting my hands under it, catching it with my pinkie and ring finger each time.  Not a strong position.

Hit 11' on the way up 3 times in the WOB, albeit not much more height left in it, need to work on completing the pull (complete extension).  All in all, a good time and good first games.

Numbers will only go up from here.

Let me know when Ivor has things going on too, since I'm probably closer to Ivor's than even Mark.

On another note, it looks like I'll be throwing at the Fife Lake Games in a few weeks.

I'm going to have to shell out for implements and make a caber.

In his natural state you can see McBain enjoying a cold beer.
