Well, after lurking and reading for a while on the NASGA boards, I figured I would post and introduce my newbie-self to the membership.

I'm a former DIII college thrower (hammer ~150', weight ~47', and shot, ~40') who is looking to get back into throwing, and thought that the HG looked like a fun way to do it, especially since I'm half Scottish.  After a few years layoff, I've been hitting the gym rather hard looking to get strong enough to throw around the caber and 56#.

I'm located just north of Boston and am looking for anyone in the area who might be interested in tutoring a newbie to the HG.  Drop me a line if you're in the area.  Thanks.

Brandon

Welcome.  I'm no expert but love training sessions. I'm in Southern Maine so not too far away.  I am in gym mode right now but will start throwing again Apr 1 snow or no.  PM or email me at adargie@yahoo.com and I will help if I can.

Al

Ah, another rebel from the south! I too am in Southern Maine and will be looking for throwing partners. Also, I am the AD for the Maine Games. Email me if you are interested in competing this year.

Wow, such quick responses.  Thanks everyone.

dWood, I'll get in touch with the guys you listed.  Dave Cheney is the AD for the St. Jude Games right?  I was looking at maybe slating that as my first games since it's close to home and I know I'm free that weekend.

Al and Leroy, I'll drop you an email to get more details.  Leroy, I took a look at the Maine HG site and will have to check to see if I'm free that weekend, but looks like it could be fun.  Plus I saw that the Clan of Honor this year is the MacDougalls, which would be cool since I'm a MacDougall on my mother's side.

Very nice. I am looking for someone who will be representing the MacDougall clan! Maybe you will be the one, it will win you unwanted recognition and embarrassment! Whats not to love!
