Hi everyone!

A friend and I are interested in starting to train to compete in the Highland Games regionally. We're located in the northwest corner of Alabama, close to Tennessee and Mississippi. We're around 4.5 hours away from Atlanta as well. Just wanted to post and see if there were any throwers in the general area. I can be in Birmingham, Memphis, and Nashville all in a little over 2 hours.

I've been looking at resources online from Clan Macthrowfar, Clan Bacon, ASGF, youtube, and anywhere else I can find info. I went deep down some different rabbit holes this week. Ha.

I threw shotput and discus in high school (as well as played volleyball and basketball). I'm currently a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and studying to get certified as a personal trainer. I work out at least 5-6 days a week with active recovery days (3 days strength training, 2-3 days doing barre/pilates for low impact cardio). I'd love to start gearing my weekly training towards throwing as well as getting some active practice in. My friend was a football player years ago and works out regularly as well. We're fine DIYing some implements to start with. I'm pretty crafty and have access to my dad's tools.

Any advice or contacts would be super helpful! Thanks in advance.
-Maggie
