Thought I would start things off with a few highlights from the games this past weekend.  Had a great time and a decent season opener.  Glad to be on board!

Welcome Bryce. I should hopefully see you out at some games this year. Some unwarranted advice (Jeff Kaste does it and I don't mind lol hopefully you won't). But watching your vid, try and flatten out your cast on your weights for distance. On your first turn with a high cast, you have to fight the weight and gravity when you land, which ion essence should slow you down (which I don't think anyone wants). Good luck this year!

Justin, I certainly hope to meet you this season, been a fan of your YouTube channel for a while now.   I am 100% open to any and all advice, here to learn and get better, so any critique is welcome.

I will try flattening out my cast and see if it helps.   Thanks!

 Gym Work 3/8/17:

1. Power Cleans:
95 x 5 (hang power snatch)
115 x 3 (hang power snatch)
135 x 3
155 x 3
185 x 3
200 x 3, 3

2. Overhead Press:
95 x 8
115 x 5
135 x 5
155 x 5
185 x 4 strict + 1 (push press)
200 x 5, 7 (push press)

3a. Cable Rows:
130 x 15
140 x 12
150 x 10
3b. Chins/Facepulls:
3 sets of 1-2 chins + 15 facepulls

4. Hyperextensions:
45 behind the neck x 12, 12, 12

5. Dips:
BW x 6, 5, 5

Finished up with 20 minutes on the bike and some stretching.  Overall had a good day, felt like cleans were moving pretty quick and push presses felt light and easy.  Lost a video of my push press top set when my sister called.  Looking forward to a strongman contest Saturday and then bringing my full focus to the games for the rest of the season.

St Patrick's Day Strongman 3-11-17:

Pretty good first strongman contest!  Won the axle clean and press with 14 reps at 215 lbs.  Took second on the 15 deadlift with a final lift of 610 lbs.  Ended up with a zero on the tire flip for reps; the tire was 750 lbs and very tall.  Couldn't seem to get it up high enough to turn it.  Carry medley went really well, 220 farmers per hand, 270 hussafel stone, and 230 sandbag.  Got a cramp in my right hamstring trying to pick the sandbag and ruined an otherwise good run.  Stones went about as poorly, kept losing my grip on the third stone.  Overall, finished 6th but had a great time!

Training 3/16/17:

1. Snatch:
95 x 5
115 x 3
135 x 3
150 x 3
165 x 3, PR!

2. Front Squat:
135 x 5
185 x 5
225 x 5
280 x 5, belt
225 x 5, 3 second pauses

3. Pulldowns:
3 sets of 15

4a.  Chest Supported DB Row:
55's x 15, 15
4b.  DB Incline Press:
55's x 18, 15

5.  Barbell Curls:
empty bar x craploads

Good day overall today, snatch felt pretty good and I am pretty sure the triple at 165 is a PR.  Front squats are still feeling rough, adjusting to squatting after the squat snatch.

Throwing:

Finally got some cooperative weather and time to throw.  Just kept it simple and tried to do drills that would not mess up the turf as I am visiting with my folks.

Sheaf:
wind and drop drill x 5
full throw x 10

Hammer:
just did winds, about 50 with the light hammer

Not much, but happy to get moving again.

Not a bad session, didn't get as much done as I wanted to, but my better half wanted to go for a hike as well as throw.  Followed this up with about a 2 mile hike to get the blood pumping.
