Have fun, don't get injured, and do well.

In that order.

Good luck man!

Have fun. Be a sponge(take everything in/including advice). Volunteer to clean up/set up. Write your results down-go to next games beat this performance. Repeat as necessary.

Good luck man!  I really like the suggestions to help set up and tear the event site down.

It helps the judges and the ADs.  Happy judges and ADs are much better than the alternative.  Plus, it is an excellent way to meet people.

Thanks for the advice guys. Was intending on volunteering. The wife and I were there when the gates opened.

Unfortunately the organizer had a family medical emergency and the event was canceled on Saturday. These things happen, hopefully everything is OK with him and his family.

Wouldn't even give me replacement tickets for the Sunday games if they were to be held.    Not exactly good customer service.

Update: They are replacing the tickets so I can do the Sunday Games.

Had a good day at the games.

What they actually did was a demo for the caber and the sheaf toss since it had to be put together by a substitute on short notice. Worked out well since I haven't practiced either.

Three rounds on a 8 ft training caber about 60 lbs. 1,12 and 1. Last round was the braemer caber toss. The short caber was very easy to handle.

I should have no problem with a 12 ft caber if I make it myself using the instructions on the site.

Did the sheaf toss. First round was about 10 ft, second round was about 15 ft which was still easy.

Then we ran out of time.
