Hello I am wondering if anyone here has any experience with doing a Caber demo on an smooth concrete arena floor?  I have been asked to do a quick demo for our local Tattoo here.  I am thinking of adding a layer of rubber to the end of the Caber so it does not just skid on the floor and also to make it easier on the floor (the producer is concerned about damage although I don't think I will be using a heavy enough Caber to worry).   Anyways any feedback would be appreciated as this would be my first time attempting Caber on that type of floor.

Thank you in advance.

If the floor survives, think potential for caber breakage is high.  I would think rubber mats on the floor would be better than on the end of the caber.

+1 there! Lots of rubber mats!

No way to get them outside for a demo?

rubber mats sound like the way to go -- especially to prevent the fat end from skidding.

You could wrap the caber with fun noddles that the kids use for swimming in a couple (several) strategic spots  to provide padding but probably would be better to build a 2x6 caber that you would not mind losing?

I have a couple of Cabers that I don't mind losing so I am not worried about Caber breakage and as we are part of a larger show putting mats down is not an option which is why I thought of adding rubber to the fat end of the Caber.

I wonder if you could use the Bed liner material they use for truck beds. We used to use in on Atlas stones...  You can buy it and apply it yourself

I have recommended this before when asked a similar question.  Never seen it tried though, but seems like a good idea to me.  Just do the whole caber that way.

GLSAA has used bed liner on a caber before and it held for a few seasons.  The caber was made from 2x6's I believe as well so the material helps a great deal.  It will add some weight as well, but the durability is increased greatly.
