My name is Tim Mullally of Canandaigua, NY.   On October 13th I was the Athletic Director and host of the 2013 Bristol Mountain Fall Festival and Highland Games.  We had 22 athletes competing and among them was the number 1 Amateur in the North America, Nick Kahanic.

During the morning session Nick and the Am Flight were throwing stones.  While throwing the Braemar Stone it became apparent that Nick might have broken the North American, US, Amateur Braemar Stone throw record with a throw of 50’ 1”.   It was verified by myself, and two other judges.  We measured it with three tapes and the shortest measurement was 50’ 1”.

The following week we took the stone in question to the U.S. Post office for a certified weight.  As you can see from the attached photo the stone came in at 21lbs 2.6 ounces.  The current record listed is 21lb stone thrown by John Davis in 2003 for a distance of 47’5.5”.

Nick is an great guy and an amazing athlete.  I would like the records to be updated to reflect his performance at the 2013 Bristol Mountain Highland Games on October 13th, 2013.
