So I'm curious as to what kind of equipment you guys find useful for improving throws? I have never been one to use anything special aside from tacky, but am thinking and feeling like I may benefit from cleats? gloves? lifting belt? tape? knee sleeves? What are your thoughts?

l'd guess that all of these things have been discussed here before.  Go to the top of this page and click onto "search."  Enter these items (one by one) and read the results.  l'm sure that you'll be enlightened!

I'm chatty this morning so, although Wally is 100% right, I'll bite:

Footwear:
- Turf shoes for moving distance stuff
- Cleats for sheaf, wob and caber
- Hammer boots

Support Gear:
- Rehbands for the happy knee warmth
- Wrist wraps for stone
- glove for wob and wfd
- tape for the fingers that tear during throws. (got a couple regulars there)

Don't wear a belt as I would feel too constricted to move properly but I know lots of guys who do.

As with everything in this sport, YMMV and season to taste.

Depend on the event! Here's what I'm using currently per event:

Stone: 1 cleat (Left foot for full spin training) and 1 runner. Wrist wrap and chalk.

WFD: Deer Hide glove with a little tacky. Baseball cleats.

Hammer: Tacky. Hammer boots.

Caber: Tacky. Baseball cleats. Sometimes a weight belt depending on how big the caber is.

WFH: Flat runner. Weight belt. Leather glove.

Sheaf: Sheaf fork. Leather glove for the fork end hand. Flat runners.

Some people prefer not to use tacky on the WFD. I prefer it because it makes the hook grip a little easier and I can relax my bicep and not have to muscle the weight around. To each his/her own.

The best tacky cleaner I have found is actually from Canadian tire and it's the motomaster cleaner. Goes for about 4 bucks a container.

Cheers

On the wrist wraps, 9inch or 24inch?

I'd go for the longer wraps, personally.

I was able to find 14 inch wraps at a power lifting meet. They work fantastic!
