Hello all!

New guy here, I've been lurking for a little while and thought it would be a great place to keep a log.

Having grown up in the highlands/Moray Firth area I have always said I'd like to do a highland games comp and after going to the Lonach games a few months back I decided that I would try to do my first one next summer. The Lonach games had a 18-25 age category which would suit me, so this is my current plan.

My best lifts to date are:

Power clean - 130kg (286lbs)
Olympic squat - 180kg (397lbs)
Front squat - 150kg (331lbs)
Bench press - 120kg (265lbs)
OHP - 92.5kg (204lbs)

I weigh 92.5kg (204lbs) which I am trying to increase.

I do not have any throwing experience but I plan to join an athletics club shortly to learn the hammer throw as ive always wanted to do this event and i think it will act as a good introduction to throwing and set me up for future highland games comps.

I've not completely worked out how im going to do my heavy events training as I dont have much equipment other than a few shots I use for overhead backwards throws, so I will need to sort this out!

I am currently recovering from a knee injury which has prevented squatting for many, many months so im just working my way back up. I also broke my elbow many years ago throwing javelin so that injury sometimes rears its head and i have a dodgey shoulder, haha.

I hope this may be of interest to some and I look forward to learning from you all here.

I don't see many people posting in kg's but im not sure I can be bothered posting in the imperial system too.

Because I have to travel quite far to a facility that has platforms and bumper plates I often train in my local "health club" too which is usually accessory and hypertrophy stuff.  This is exactly what was done at the weekend after the above session, I just did some accessory lower back, abs, RC and upper back work.

Also, here is a picture I took from the Lonach games:  http://postimage.org/image/mvu89uacj/" rel="nofollow - http://postimage.org/image/mvu89uacj/  perhaps you guys know some of these competitors, perhaps you are one of these competitors!? I think there were several from BC, Canada and I think the guy with those ENORMOUS calf's is Polish.
