It makes me wonder, did the people tested already have severe damage and they presume it would assist them? Or did they take people with minor damage or little to no damage and see how it helped them?

All I know is I feel better taking my Omega 3's.

I am not a scientist, but I'm wondering how a study of deaths can be used to show that something doesn't prevent deaths.  Isn't that akin to saying "Half of the people who died from heart attacks had exercised, so exercise doesn't help prevent heart attacks"???

I kind of thought you had to look at an at risk population with a control group in order to make a conclusive study...

But, hey thanks!  At least this article reminded me to take my Fish Oil...

You guys should read the study published in the JAMA and you'd have your answers.

It's not a study of deaths.

Yeah, I figured there would be more in there, but then I would have to register for it and all...  And that would like take effort...

lol, understandable.  I just quickly looked at it, and I think only like 10% of the 70k people studied died.

My bad...  I missed this key line in the google summary.

"Scientists pooled evidence from 20 studies involving almost 70,000 patients"

I focused on

"Researchers conducting the new study analysed data on 7,044 deaths, 3,993 heart-related deaths, 1,150 sudden deaths, 1,837 heart attacks and 1,490 strokes."

I am still taking my fish oils. All I know is two things, 1) I feel better period, 2) my knees REALLY feel better.

If I don't take it for a week or so, My knees remind me I missed the doses.

That study said nothing about inflammation, which fish oil has been proven to help with.  So what you say makes sense, and also shows that you probably didn't even read the links I posted and just felt like commenting on something unrelated.

The study was in regards to all-cause mortality, cardiac death, sudden death, myocardial infarction, or stroke.

Basically, if you are really likely to die of a heart attack/stroke/heart related death, don't rely on Fish Oil to save you...  You might want to do the other things medically proven to help...  Or not, your choice...

It's just FFFFFing food. If you're not doing all the other shit, fish oil and aspirin won't save your ass.

LOL

Who are you arguing with though?

I never said don't take fish oil, I just posted a study indicating it didn't have much to do with heart health.

You started off with the very scientific statement of "I feel better taking it", in response to a study relating to heart health.  I wish I could feel how good stuff is working on my heart, like you can.  Can you feel it attacking the inflammation in and around your muscles too?

Craig, relax. I am just having some fun. I have just taken the stuff because my joints feel better taking it. If there is any other benefit great!  I will say the article is a shocker considering how many Cardiologists have got on board with people taking fish oils.

just curious what delivery type or dosage everyone takes?  I've tried the fish oil in the past and the aftertaste and burping was too much.  I did take krill oil for a time and didn't notice any aftertaste, however it was several times more expensive.

Get the enteric coated ones for no fish burps.

As far as doseage:
