            NORTH AMERlCAN SCOTTlSH ATHLETlCS CHAMPlONSHlP
                            ENUMCLAW (the Claw!), WA, USA
                                   JULY 28th and 29th, 2012
As has been done in the past, our NASGA http://www.nasgaweb.com/dbase/nachamps4.asp" rel="nofollow - ranking page will be used to determine the twelve (12) best North American male applicants to be invited (however, neither Canada nor the US will be represented by fewer than two [2] athletes from that page.)  Applications will be available through June 20th at http://www.sshga.org/games/competitorInfo/athletics.htm" rel="nofollow - the Claw's web site .  lf you have any questions, call me at (206) 938-3934 or email me at mailto:heavys@sshga.org" rel="nofollow - heavys@sshga.org.

This year, the Elite Women's Championship has been extended to two (2) says.  The six (6) top ranked women that apply will be invited (however, both Canada and the US will be represented by at least one [1] athlete.)

There are also five (5) Pre-Elite classes: Men's A and Women's A on Saturday, and Master Men 40-49 and 50&up and Master Women on Sunday.  There is room for twelve (12) athletes each in Men's A and Master Men, but Women's A and Master Women are limited to six (6) each.  Last year's Pre-Elite Class Champs, Runners-up, Caber Champs and those who set new Field records will be invited first.  From the balance of the applicants, we will then invite the best athletes.  Further vacancies, if any, will be invited by promptness of application.  As always, applicants not making the cut will have their application fee returned.

Sorry, Josh.  Men's B fell victim to the expansion of the Elite Women's class.  As did Women's B!  There's only so much room under the Big Top!!

Think of it as the E-claw incentive plan!

Easy!  Just leave it off of the schedule!!  Just kidding.  You know how small the arena is at the Claw.  l had to play with the schedule since last year's Games to be able to come up with a second day for Elite Women.  The B classes were dropped to make way for it.  Pretty much the way that Men's C was dropped to make way for day 2 of Elite Men.

Sean, just send in your 56 marks (be sure to indicate that's what they are.)  l can figure how they'd equate to a 42.

Double your entry, double your fun!!

Thanks Mike and Duncan....
Well as B class Champion and Caber Champion I get an invite. SO yes I would like to come back as an A. The B class has been a great place for so many guys including myself to get a firm hold on great competition. It's just sad that it wont be there. There are so many guys who got there start there and also the regulars who came back every year!

lt's not like the 'old days.'  There's a lot more Games around here now for those that are just starting out.

Greg, l'd say just go ahead and enter.  Where the form asks for marks, put in a zero (0).  Remind me about what's happening in the space for 'Records held.'  Then email me your marks when you get them.  By doing this, you'll at least meet our 3rd qualifier, 'Promptness of application.'  Once again, applicants not selected will have their application fee returned.
Quote What's the likelihood that class will be closed out by then?
None.  Classes are not closed until after 11:59 pm on June 20th.

l'm sorry but no.  Because there will be no Class Bs, l forgot to spell that out better and now l can't go back and edit!

The way lnvites go is:
Class A, last year's Champions, Runners-up, 2nd Runners-up and Caber Champions.
Masters, last year's Champions, Runners-up and Caber Champions.
Class B, last year's Champions and Caber Champions.

Sorry if l needlessly got you excited.

Hey Wally,

No problem, I will still be registering for the A's and will just have to qualify the old fashioned way.  The fault is mine for letting Jay beat me last year.

This brings up a good point and I am wondering if a solution would be to create a new forum folder called "Athletes Lists" or such and inside this folder AD's would be allowed to edit their posts to create current lists.  Craig what do you think, is this possible?

Can we just turn editting on, like a real website?

Posted By: C. Smith

We must visit different real websites.

I'll think about it.

Other than this circumstance, I'm not sure why after 15 minutes you'd need to edit a post as opposed to making a new one.

In the heated threads, I like people to stand behind what they wrote instead of going back an hour later and changing it (which happened frequently on here).

Posted By: phatmiked

really?  that's the reason this site only allows 15 mins to edit a post?

Gotta say I would rather have the functionality.  I really don't care if someone waivers on their position.  Or, reconsiders what they said and goes back to express themselves better or more appropriately.

Hey Duncan,

Just to clarify my post, it is not that he has not earned it cuz he definitely has but with the B class gone, spots are at a premium this year and with him already throwing on the Sunday it is nice to give someone else a chance to throw.  Now that being said, with his marks he has earned the right to do whatever and it is up to us to work harder to earn our way in, just sucks for those of us that can't make it to many games and now it is harder and harder to get into ones that are close.

Thanks
Ray

Everytime I go throw, something good happens, and then I notice a deficiency somewhere else.  I train that up, and something else doesn't feel right.  I think I am too much of a perfectionist...or trying vainly to become so.

The reason for practice and all the drills that people do are so when it comes game time you don't have to worry about technique and you can just go balls to the wall.  Worry about technique and do drills all you want during pratice but when it comes game time, pick sh!t up and throw it far.  Forget everything else!  My college football coach used to tell us that the reason our practices were so hard was to make the games easy.  We practiced every possible scenario during the week while our bodies were on the verge of breaking, but when it was game time no matter what a defense threw at us we were prepared.  Well, you have practiced and practiced and practiced.......and practiced.  At some point it's time to take all the thinking out of it and just throw!!!

Hey Wally! Here's a question: The application says that competitors will be selected by ranking and by promptness of application. Is that just a fancy way of saying "Get your entry in before June 20th?" Or is there more to this?

Thanks!

You've applied for the Elite Women's class.  The only thing that matters there is how well you're ranked!  lf you're talkin' the Pre-Elite classes then the following applies:
Quote There are also five (5) Pre-Elite classes....
What we're sayin' is that those Pre-Elites who won lnvites last year are included first.  Next we'll invite the best athletes.  The third and final Pre-Elite qualifier is (simply put) first to enter, first to compete!

Al Stagner told me he was gonna register, when we talked at the Worlds.  He better get on it, though, last I checked there was only one spot left in the Masters.... and Brett Milton hadn't registered, yet.

Well, Al has several things going for him.
  1. Last year, he won an invitation to return.
  B. His marks will be good enuf' to make the cut anyway.
III. He has 'til June 20th to apply.
  d. There are only 3 applications for the 50+ class, 4 when Brett Milton decides to apply.

lt drives me nuts (and makes more work for me) when folks wait 'til the bitter end to apply but that's what happens when there's a cut-off that's a long way off.  BUT - that date is only 2 weeks away now!

My advice:

SHUT YOUR FACE!  Come throw in the A's and improve Hoss.  The corner is in sight...you're going to turn in soon.

Far be it for me to tell you what to do, but the A class would be better for having you in it.
