Hi Wally, I have applied for the Master's Class. Karyn knows me pretty well from the MWC and her trips over here to Europe. Hope you can find room.... I also know that Martin Shiller from Vienna, Austria has applied from an open class. He is one of the top throwers in Austria and competes often in Germany.
Thanks and best regards,

It will be really nice to make the cut. I've been to the Enumclaw games in the past as a spectator, and would be honored to be allowed to compete. as it stands I am in the game, and selfish as it sounds I hope it doesn't fill up, that way I can stay.

Anthony, Comment allez-vous mon ami??? so glad you and Martin signed up, that is awesome would be nice to have some athletes from across the pond at the Claw... Wally puts on a most excellent games, as I had told you.. just remember no Hammer boots & be prepared for any type of weather, sun, heat, rain, extreme rain. I think everyone should experience the "Claw" at least once in their throwing career. PS. Wally collects coins.. so bring some cool ones from overseas for him & for Martin & you Prost!!! That's true, Karyn. That's why for the Elite classes l had specified "Application" lists. l should have done the same with the Pre-Elite classes and now l have! The final cut-off will be at 11:59 pm June 20th and the lists will be set in stone then!

Hi Wally, technically, CHE is correct....as the formal, official name for Switzerland is the "Confederation Helvetique", or C.HE.....maybe the post office still uses that,....but for international competitions, usually you see SUI (Suisse, the French version of Switzerland)....such a complicated place to live! The country also is called "Schweiz" (in German)..."Svizzera" (Italian) and "Svizra" (Romantch)...those are the four official languages of Switzerland. Even the money has all four languages printed on it... lol

Josh, don't forget that the third deciding factor on being invited is "promptness of application." That means that after inviting the Champs and runners-up from last year and then the best athletes, we then invite by the order in which applications were received. You got your app in right away so you should be looking good!
A lot of people like to wait 'til the bitter end before sending in their apps but that could work against them when the Pre-Elite invites are being selected.

My understanding is that Matt is NOT planning to compete in Class A and Elite. We talked about him getting his application fee returned if he qualified as an Elite competitor. He didn't apply for the Elite class right off. He waited until talking to me about competing in the Elites but not accepting the prize money so as to remain what is jokingly referred to as an "amateur."

You need to read the fine print at the bottom of the ranking page, Mark. You'll see that the Pre-Elite athletes can not earn as many points on the caber as you Elite guys can. An Elite can earn upwards of 1000 points for a turn whereas a Super A can only get 900 and a Class A tops out at 850. This is done to compensate for the fact that cabers for the Elite are invariably larger!

I've thrown with both Baker and Dickens this year and they are ON. Masters 40-49 we're gonna have to up our game to push these two!
Mr. Dickens also does a cool Icelandic jig and I'll be accepting "donations" not to post the video...

Al, didja see that Bob Vail signed up! That's great, I've never met Bob, I've just seen his name higher than mine in the rankings for three years! ...and Brett Milton told Wally he'd apply. This is gonna be a HELL of a 50-59 class, probably the strongest 50-59 grouping outside of the MWC.

Got this from the SAAA website.
The wing configuration has wings that extend out from each edge of the trig at a 45 degree angle for a distance of roughly 18”, the sidelines then continue perpendicular to the trig all the way to the backline. With the exception of the leading 45-degree wings, the sidelines are parallel and not more than 6’9” apart. All areas beyond the sidelines are out of bounds and contact with any of these areas by any part of the competitor’s body during an attempt shall be a foul and count as an attempt whether the implement has been delivered or not. The wings may be either painted lines, or extensions of the trig board itself. All measurements shall be taken from the point at the center of the inside edge of the trig board.

YES, start booking! The lists are now final! Every class is full. Some are actually a little overfull! l was a little softhearted and cut no-one. l figure that a few people won't show up and if everyone in an overfull class does show, l'll just issue that class' judge a whip!! lf they still get behind schedule, l'll give the judge a bigger whip!!!
