Hey folks.
I'm planning to hold a games in Albany, NY on May 14th. Kind of a decent way for all of the folks in the NE to see where they're at after the off season training and to shake off some of that throwing rust.
I've got a great field right in the city, over an acre, all flat, close parking.
Planning to contest all 9 events. I'd also like to bring along a 2" axle for folks if they want to play with some DL or Overhead stuff. 2 trig set up. We're not going to run the day for speed or anything...but I also would like folks to stay warmed up for the day.
Decent officials are worked out, so throwers should be able to come and do just that, concentrate on their throwing.
All ages, weights and genders welcome. I'll be more than happy to accommodate any classes.
$15 reg fee.....which will cover a t shirt for every entrant registered prior to May 1. I'll also get some trophies/awards with whatever is left over.
PA and ipod dj if no one objects.
Hope to see you all there.

40.

Permit pulled, insurance almost set, t shirt graphics done, trophies done.

Do you have any more info regarding the 14th? start time, address for the fee & location. Spent a year in Troy in the 80's & haven't been back to Albany since. I may have to go over the bridge & see if the the South end is still open.

@CNorth.....drove by the South End the other day, looked to be about the same as it has the last 20 years. The Ladies entrance still exists.

$15 per, start around 9ish, 3 trigs, lots of throws, no festival.....all athletics, all events. Will try and round up some extra gear to play with if time permits.

http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=&rlz=1B3GGLL_enUS371US425&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=tivoli+park+albany&fb=1&gl=us&hq=tivoli+park&hnear=Albany,+NY&cid=1665605941117075321 - Tivoli Park

Its about 2 acres that's real easy to get to and pretty flat.

I'll have registration stuff up in about a week, and anyone registered prior to May 7 will be guaranteed a T with their entry.

We've got lots of officials, so I'm hoping no one has to pull tape between throws or mark in the field.....at least that's the goal.

I'm pretty sure Don Stewart will be there in all his awesomeness to verify and make sure everything is as legit as it can be.

Most implements will be newish, either Old Celt or a Landrich creation.

My WFH and Sheaf standards may be kinda unconventional.

As you can see from above, we've got lots of great athletes coming, and more that I've been in touch with via the FB. So it should be a great first games and every class will be accommodated.

I just realized I will be out of town that weekend, that's a bummer, I got excited about nothing.

I attended HVCC for a year in the 80's & lived in the Ilium Apts. on the hill. I lost my eligability to play my soph. year  thanks to South End, Sutters, Reflections, Eldorado Hotel  or was it called Eldas ? Packed up & came home to regroup ... I had a lot of fun in Troy! all a fog anymore ...lucky to be alive

its new(ish), we should be good, although I did have an additional ring made thats of thinner stock, I know its not lighter, but the increased grip helps it feel that way.

Hey Jason, pleasure meeting you today in Olcott. Count me in with the rest of the Big Old Boys, this sounds like a great event. I'll bring a 16 lb. sheaf and 22 lb. hammer for back ups. I also have the  computer based scoring program we used at the indoor meet in Rochester last February if you would like to use it. It prints out a nice certificate with all the event distances and placings for each participant.

You and Chuck will be a great addition to the already stellar masters class we've got shaped up.

Cool Ian, It will be great to see you there.  I was really exited to get to throw with guys from that part of the country last week.  Looking forward to seeing some at some New England Games.

Jasen since the Masters is so big why don't you go ahead and split it into an A and B class or flights?  Or maybe split a few of us off and we can throw with the LW guys.  I'm sure we are all old enough, I mean mature enough to be cool with that.  I'd hate to be the one slowing things up for guys like Hapy and Doc Rock.  We can all throw the same weights then just compare the numbers at the end.

Check the day of is fine.

As of right now, planning on 4 flites with
3 trigs. Masters will be split, hopefully it'll
work itself out naturally to a 40+ and
50+....if not, we'll just figure it out that
morning.
I enjoy logistics
Each trig will be specific to an event.
Move to the next when done. Largest
flite starts in the end of the rotation,
smaller out front.
I hate teeing off behind old hens at the
golf course, going to try and get
everyone out moving.
We're approaching 30 athletes, without
counting the University of Albany
throwers that may come.
The only thing I'm a bit concerned with is
having enough volunteer help. So if you
can bring some.....great. I would love to
end the day with having never seen a
clipboard or tape in an athletes hand.
However, I know that's pretty lofty.
For those traveling, clanbob has some
very inexpensive to free rooms. I'd
suggest shooting Bob Vail a pm to get
something worked out.

Hey Jasen,  I'm thinking you may have mis spelled my last name. You have Fitzpatrick, it's Fitzgerald ( or it's two people ). It's the last name in the masters's list on your post. I'm listed as being from Wantage NJ on my registration.

Hi Jasen, I am sorry to say but I can't make it to your Games. Looks like it will
be a great event so you won't miss one more Master in the rotation. Thanks,
Bill

Jasen, looks like I MIGHT have a problem.  The roads I need to get down there are apparently closed and under 15 feet of water in Tupper, Long Lake and near Indian Lake.  The report today said it could take up to 3 weeks for them to open but I think they are exaggerating a bit to get FEMA involved.  I'm still planning on going, but if I'm not there come next Saturday I apologize.

Can't make Iceland fit this year which is a bummer. Hopefully it will go
great, and I can go next year.

T's made, trophies en route, porta potty ordered, city permit obtained, DGS to mow Friday, Sheaf standards work, piper to arrive in the am, County Comptroller to kick it all off, gonna be a hell of a day.

Anyone coming in the nite before, cocktails and stories at http://www.thevictorycafe.com/ - The Victory , all welcome.

We've had some last minute additions and deletions, everything is pointing toward awesome.

Still planning to be there, I heard they opened up a road South out of Tupper yesterday.

I'll try to get down early to help out.  I don't think my family is going to make it to the field, and I hate to drag the gnomedome around if they aren't going to be there.  Can I share some canopy space with somebody?

I'm going to plan on 8ish.
kinda weird to have folks from all over talk about going to the Victory, someplace I treat as my second kitchen, love it, cant wait to get everyone together and enjoy some great company while throwing far (ish).

if anyone needs anything over the next few days, feel free to shoot me a text or call, 518.330.2068, more than happy to help out with anything and everything.

if you're bringing some friends, some of those cheap fishing chairs maybe a great help.

Gillie, I gotcha.

trophies are in.

Can't wait to see who wins "biggest grunter"

Since Tom whatever his last name is coming I'm bringing the gnomedome.  looks like we might get some occasional rain and since I'm such a delicate flower I wouldn't want to get wet.

Jason, please thank all your volunteers again. They did an
awesome job all day. I think everyone had a great time, I
know I did. The field was a great size for the number of
throwers that showed. Look forward to next year, thanks
again. Ian
