I dunno, maybe this is just a whim but I just got a new Dan John book and got inspired to look into this sport.  I'm 56, my lifting has slacked off in the past 2-3 years but I've remained active with swimming and lately racquetball.  Still use my lifting platform for clean and presses and my chinning bar out back but not that regimented.  Am trying to get my mojo back for lifting and thought this might be the motivation needed.

The sport definitely welcomes newcomers.  If you post in the General section of this forum, you might find more people respond to you there.  If you live near Austin, SA, or Houston, there are quite a few people on here from those areas.  I am closer to DFW myself.  Hope that your search for someone to train with goes well.
