Subject: Thoughts and Prayers Needed For Ryan
Date Posted: 8/30/10 at 10:20am

I received a call today from Ryan's wife Chris Vierra. We all know that Ryan had neck surgery a few weeks ago and has been feeling better but he had not regained his energy or his strength levels.  From what Chris said Ryan left to go to track practice but came back home and collapse at his house and she rushed him to the Doc and they sent him to the emergency room right away. He has been admitted and they are running test on him. They are pretty sure He has blood clot and they dont know if it is in his heart or lungs but they are running test.  From what Chris is saying is he is in pretty bad shape and really needs some prayers. I will do my best to keep everyone up to date as I receive word.  I know that Chris and Ryan and his kids all could use our prayers.

Ryan I am praying fro you brother.

Ryan and family, you all are in my prayers, and will be on the prayer chain and novena.  You do not know me, as I am new to the sport, but watching your training DVDs intently got me through a serious orthopedic operation and recovery.  I am very grateful for you.  If God can snatch me from the brink of death twice in operations, He can certainly bring you through this blood clot and restore your health.  He also restored my friend Curt, who had blood clots throughout his body, without a stroke or heart attack.  Remember you belong to Jesus, and He took all those stripes for your healing.  Here is a prayer for you:  O God of heavenly powers, who by the might of your command, drives away from men's bodies all sickness and all infirmity; Be present in your goodness with this your servant Ryan, that his weakness may be banished and his strength recalled; that his health being restored, he may bless your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Christina here... after many hours of waiting all scans and blood work look ok for NO CLOT however we can not rule out neurological  damage or that this could be cardiac.. so frustating... I am so tired and i know if ryan could see these posts he would truley appreaciate it from the bottom of his heart... He is fully concious but his speech is slow and slightly slurred i am not convinced that he has something major going on.. The only test that came back abnormal was is wbc they are elvated so now my other focus is possible rejection of the kadavar bone.. blood cultures and neurolgist in am, gonna sleep now becasue he is with my old team of nurses and i know he is in good hands. I can't imagine what I would do without our throwing family... We love you all and thank you for the thoughts and prayers.. I will post more as it is know to me... I know that he has many angels watching over him, and that my faith is what keeps me going,,,

 many thanks  christina vierra

Since this board started people have been trying to predict the winner for whatever big games were coming up next... Pleasanton, Bethlehem, the world championships, etc. Year after year after year, the safe bet was Ryan Vierra. I don't see that this is any different.

Ryan, I'm sorry that you and your family have to go through this. I am not, however, at all worried about you. The stakes may be a bit higher this time, but I have no doubt about the outcome.

I see many people say that Ryan is in their prayers. I trust this is true, but rather than saying it - I am going to do it. God surpasses time, so no matter when you read this - if you believe, join with me in this prayer for Ryan and Chris:

Heavenly Father, we are lifting our brother Ryan and his wife Chris before You this day, asking Your favor on him for a complete recovery. We ask that the doctors would be given extraordinary skill in treating our friend and brother, and that You would give Your strength and the peace that passes all understanding to Ryan and Chris. Pull them close we ask and assure them that You are in control. Fill them with Your love that never fails, give them hope that sustains and the faith that can move mountains. Your Word tells us that when 2 of us agree as touching anything that we ask, it shall be done for us of our Father in Heaven. There are many in agreement here Lord, many touching in prayer for Ryan. We trust You for the results. Let our Spirits praise You while we wait, and we give to You the thanks and the Glory by Christ Jesus for what You have done, and for what You will do, for it is in His name that we ask these things.

Amen.

chris here ..

ryan  is home and he is actually going to post but he wanted to stop and watch Brookes football practice, since he has missed nearly all of it them so far... The Hospitalist wanted to kick Ryan out this am. I suggested a MRI with and without contrast, and a neurology consult to follow up on the loss of balance and episodes of weakenss and slurred speech. However, Ryan even lossing 35+ pounds  could not fit in the cylinder style MRI  so after waiting all day at 5 pm the neurologist had still not shown, I called and suggested we f/u with our Doctor in am for MRI on outpt basis that is an open MRI machine,  and schedule an appointment with neurologist.. I would not have done this except today ryans words were more clear and his balance and coordinaion we very strong plus he wanted to home with his girls... thanks to all..

Great news but still praying for a complete good bill of health.

Thanks for the update Chris and rest and heal Ryan. There are a lot of
people out here that look up to you and love you brother. Hell, I have
a photo of you on my wall of heroes at my desk at work. Get better.

Thank you for the continued updates Chris!  This is good news and sounds like Ryan .  We praise the Lord for this encouragement and we continue to pray for answers regarding the rest of the issues.  God has truly given Ryan unique giftings and will use this time to bless in the future.

Have been reflecting on the past 20+ years, getting to know Ryan and family.  Prayers for my all of my cherished good friends.  Hoping to see you all this weekend.  We have tremendous strength in our Highland Games family.

Ryan, am so glad you are now at home.  It looks like you married the right woman.  Christina you are awesome!  You sure know what to do for your husband.  Ryan, if you are smart, you'll listen to her and do what she tells you to do.  I'll still be praying for you both and your family.  In Christ, Beth Harper
