Alright just starting a new program will see how it works.
Background
30 years old, Previous Football and Track Thrower in College.
Been Throwing Highland Games since July 2009.
Here is the lifting plan I intend to Follow. Comments and suggestions to
improve it are welcome.

Program
3 Days a week
1 mile run to warm up
Reps on main lifts indicated by *: Week 1; 3x5 Week 2; 6,4,3 Week 3; 3x3
then start over.

1st Workout
*Hang Cleans
*Squats
Snatch
Caber specific exercise, Would like suggestions
*Dead lifts/high pulls

2nd Workout more of a speed day
*Bench
*Push Press
*Incline
Speed Cleans
Core blaster (Twisting Squat)

3rd Workout (this one will vary a lot)
Arms Triceps/Biceps
Lat pulls
Various Abs
various plyos

Throw at least once a week most likely between workout 2 and 3. event
will vary.

Sheaf and Hammer
25 sheaf throws over 25ft bar missed 5
some just made it over, some were way over

10x 16lb hammer winds
triad to get at least 5-6 rotations on each with proper hip movement

8x 22lb hammer throws all about 70ft
wasn't trying to throw far here just trying to get the movement.
I've got along way to go with this one.

Between work and pulling a back muscle between my shoulder blades my
lifting has gone to crap. Going to start again today with the following in
mind. Hopefully I'll get 5 good weeks of lifting before my next comp.

I am originally and still an olympic weightlifter. When I read these logs, I'm amazed and very pleased to find so many people training for HG using o-lifts and their variations. It seems like HG competitors are some of the few that have seen the light. I actually often understand what I am looking at when I read what you do. Good work. But run. What does that mean?

I do various running routines. Sprints, distance runs etc. don't always log
exactly what I do.

I think you see alot of Oly lifting in the HG because there are a large number
of former shotput, discus and Hammer throwers competing. I think most of
us with that back ground are used to training in this manner because it
generally works.

Had Second ACL reconstruction on my left knee in March of 2011. It's been ten months and I'm back to lifting normally. Still doing rehab exercises in conjunction with workouts and looking forward to starting to throw once the snow breaks.
