I got my first ever bottle last week, but didn't get a chance to try it out...but...first thing I did do was stick my nose in it to see if it smelled like stuff I've stolen in past competitions.

DAMN!!! Fresh tacky!  DO NOT INHALE!  Whew.

Now, reason I am putting this in throwing is because I finally got some hammer practice in using this stuff.  I've had about 10 hammer sessions (mixed in with other stuff) and my throws have really suffered.  I couldn't get any speed on the hammer and I was getting frustrated.  Dropping the hammer at 90-95ft consistently.  Had it go sideways a couple of times.

Today with the tacky...I was warming up at 90ft!  After getting the hang of it...my first session with the tacky dropped 3-4 at 102'

Now...newbies...please continue to read because important part coming.  (Oldies please correct me if I am wrong...)

It wasn't the tacky that made me throw far...the tacky allowed me to apply more rotational force to the hammer than I have been able to in practice.  And even better...I know now that I will actually be training those muscle even MORE than I have been.

Now that I can hold the hammer longer...I am effectively adding more resistance to the throwing muscles.  I had peaked before because my grip just could not hold anymore.  Now I can actually work on lengthening my form and adding more pull on that last swing....all stuff I have been struggling with this year.

Not saying this is magic and all newbies should do it...I have been working on my form and my flexibility for years.  It may not be perfect but it seems I got to the point where only way to get more was to start using the tacky in practice.

I assume this is same way with boots.  You advance your skills as far as you can go in one level...which makes you that much stronger when you are ready to move up?  So...single and double winds until you have that down...triple winds with straight arms and open shoulders...triples with tacky and length and stretch...(then boots with lean?)

So anyway...the tacky is great and hoping the next few weeks gets me working those muscles just that much harder to may a new PR this year.  (103'* last year)

*downhill...

Oh and DAMN...another warning on that bottle needs to be...(other than don't inhale the fikken stuff)...make sure you callouses are well attached to your hand!

Ripped of my second in two weeks.  A fatigued hand let go of WFD on Sat and ripped my palm...today's hour of hammer ripped one off my finger.

This is going to sting!!

Have had the exact same experience with Brock's tacky.Great stuff as long as it stays a little warm.Wish the tubes would make a comeback.
I like the system of adding elements one at a time to hammer.Just one question with this stuff. Is there any health related problem with open wounds? For that matter should I not kiss my lead weights everytime I throw a PR.(close mouthed)

Another hint...clean your hands REALLY well before driving home...or drive while holding a towel. After years of using Brock's tacky, my steering wheel has no leather on the top half anymore.

I may be weird, but I like the smell. And wash your hands well before heading to the outhouse.

Ha ha...good lesson for all us new to tacky.  Careful when shaking dew off the lilly.

Tacky & Grass!  Fun!  Especially when your new throwing blades trip you up and you fall face first in grass.  (yes, first day ever with blades)
