Does anyone know of any place to buy the steel round rings that you see on most competition implements.

Thanks for the plug Joel, but the Rogue and the Elite rings are more of a gymnastic ring, thus not good for HG, but more suited for bodyweight stuff. The Ironmind or Atomic look good though.

Thanks again.

Ryan,

I got mine from Old Celt for $17 or so two years ago they have held up fine.  Malcom knows highland games and is great to deal with.

If you don't have time to do it right, when are you going to have time to do it over?

Great thanks. I am getting a 28lb. lead implement made for me but I really wanted to get a good ring handle to put on it.

Once again!  Go to a junk yard and pick up an automobile coil spring that has the size and thickness of loops that suit your needs.  Cut off loops and close them up in a vise.  Weld them.  Result:  an inexpensive ring that will hold up to most any punishment!

The Ironmind R rings are quite "thin" and plastic coated which ends up getting scratched when throwing - they do work OK though.

Don't know about the other ones though.

I took a piece of 3/4" steel, 5ft long, and bent it over my head, then put my foot in it and crossed it over until I got a full circle,  Then I cut it, put it in a vice, welded it shut, then used a file and then sand paper to smooth out the weld and viola.  I made several in 1/2", 5/8", and 3/4".  The steel came from our strongman shows, we bend them in front of crowds so they get two lives. The bends are amazing symetrical. I bet a local welding shop would do the welding cheap.

I have a regular ring handle and D ring handle, both from Malcolm at Old Celt.

Great handles and equipment.

This will produce a ring that will bend when the weight lands on it.  Not satisfactory at all.  Go back and check out my previous post.  The final product will hold up to anything that you can do to it!!!!

Oh, yeah, Wally, but NOT nearly as fun. (which is how I intended my post, but I did make some rings that way and they did tend to get banged around by the weights so Wally is correct).

And Baabster, my head is quite round.  It's my personality that's square.

Do you just e-mail Old Celt to get a ring?  Does he have the other hardware besides the ring to connect it to the weight?  I have a weight down here I need a ring for.
