Database to be updated soon... for now, here's the overall results

Vierra, Parman, D. Barron, D. Brown, Betz, Lowther, W. Barron, M Smith, J. Strand, Brock, Overfelt, Hadley

As predicted, all the events were close with Ryan winning both wfd's and both hammers - Sean Betz won the WOB, and surprised perhaps even himself with the Caber.  James Parman threw the best games of his life, setting new PR's in several events, and throwing hammers well beyond prior personal bests at Pleasanton.

Winning throws per event:  Lowther in the 26# Br. Stone with 37'10.5"; Parman in the Open Stone with 50' 11.75"; Vierra in the 28 wfd with 82'8", Vierra in the 56 wfd with 44'4"; Vierra in the 16# Hammer with 144'2.5", Vierra in the 22# wfd with 115'5" and then extra throws of 118'4.5";  Betz with 16.6' in the WOB.  D. Brown on the extra WOB event at 17 feet, and also won Challenge Caber;  Vierra won the day two Pro caber.

Great job to all... in other classes - Harvey Barkauskas won the 50+ Masters and set several records in the process... I believe Mike Polowski (sp?) won the A's with Andrew Hobson 2nd and a tie with Luke MacKay and someone else (sorry!) for 3rd. 

Many thanks to all who helped for the two day event - more to come.

Oh I don`t know whats happening to highland games these days the next you know it Bill Anderson will be throwing again..

Great job to everyone, but you will not run across a finer athlete when it comes to James. Old guys rule! Kids, watch out, because we're coming to get you. It's like "Night of the Living Dead."

I hate to say it, but I told you so quite some time ago.

When Zeus is on, the thunder rolls.

It will be a cold day in Hades before most of us fifties match his marks (and I haven't even seen em yet!)

Assume the fires in Napa-Sonoma harshed Kevin Youngberg's glow some.

Please advise.

ps Steve Conway---I hope the trophies shipped in on time. UPS assured me they would be there.

Since last year’s winner wasn’t there… there were 12 further than him at this year's comp…

 

Just kidding – the comment prior to the games was based on what people were allegedly throwing – in the heavy hammer, many people predicted higher throws – well in the high teen’s.  However, as with many two-day comp’s and the level of competition present, the marks were well off that, with only Ryan busting out a big toss over 118.

 

Most people probably would have predicted higher throws in nearly all the events – especially the 28 and 56 wfd given tosses earlier in the year well over 45 and 85 for four of the athletes – oh well, maybe next year.

Looks like it was a phenomenal competition. I owe you a burrito Ryan. Half a point separates the two Dave B's . Perhaps a sumo challenge is in order to settle that one. Mike Pocohontasakowski pulls it out with the last throw in the last event of the competition. That's excitement.
