Hey all, my name's Sam.   I just got out of the Marine Corps after 7 years, and decided it's about time i start being more than a spectator at the games.  :D   Right now i'm mostly interested in staying in the amateur ranks, but who knows what might develop.

Welcome Sam,

Check out this schedule for the Rocky Mountain Scottish Assc. - http://www.rmsa.org/schedule.html.

Hopefully there will be an upcoming game close by. Get a kilt from Sportkilt or StillWater Kilts, show up and complete.  Hopefully you will meet some local athletes that will be able to give you some training and technique direction.

Good luck with the games.

Welcome!  What part of Colorado are you in?  There are a few people that hold practice around the state.  Unfortunatly the season is pretty much over in Colorado.  We will continue to hold practice in Keenesburg as long as the weather lets us.

Thanks for the link and the welcome!  I've got the kilt bit covered.    I used to attend the games every year until i enlisted.  I've already found more info than i know what to do with on this forum.

I'm in Lafayette.  I believe Keenesburg is only 45 minutes to an hour from here.. well worth the trip i'd say if there's good training to be had.  I did finally make it to the last round of the Estes games, but I'm glad i have almost a full year now to get ready for the next ones.   My last deployment in Iraq left me pretty torn up (physically), so i wasn't ready to throw anything around this year anyway.    But i will definitely keep in touch with you. Thanks for the reply!

There is also training on Sundays in Aurora.  In fact there will be a training session this Sunday, starting at 9am at Side Creek Park.  Sorry, I don't know the street names, but I know how to get there from Longmont.  You can mapquest it, the park is about 1-2 miles south of the South Gate to Buckley Air Force Base.  Maybe we will see you there.

Run when you can, walk if you must, crawl if you have to, just do it!

That's awesome.   I know the Buckley AFB area pretty well.   I won't be able to attend for a few weeks yet, but i'll definitely keep it on the list.   Thanks!
