Hey-

Got a call from my son at Iowa yesterday. He says that he's started training with Coach Doyle and his hammers are improving. Told him that's great and that mine have been getting better as well. He says that he knows ... since he's been checking the NASGA database.

I thought that was interesting since now I've got my dad AND my son comparing their numbers to youse guys.

Anybody wanna bet on the Michigan v Iowa game?

Good luck in your training,

Johnny-

He din't share any details, jus said that they've worked WOB, sheaf, caber and hammers in the first couple of workouts.

Last winter, I compiled for him a 3-ring binder for Oly-lifting workouts based on programs by Jim Schmidts of the SportsPalace. And he continues to let me know that he's doing more quick lifts and using those ideas in his training.

Are you coming to Celtic Fest?

I'll take that bet...

considering how weak Doyle was in the Keg toss @ QC, therefore, there will be little or no hip drive from the UofI team, whatsoever.  Plus the fact that Chris Snider is from Michigan, and you'd have to be nuts to live in the same state as that guy, not to mention attend university....

I'd have to say evenmoney - Loser buys rounds 1,3, & 7 @ Celtic Fest.

Besides, how could you have any confidence in a team that's mostly yella?

Hey-

Interesting bet! Rounds 1,3 & 7, ... huh? What happens to round 5?

I watched Iowa upset Michigan last year. It was cool!

Doyle's Hawks lost Robert Gallery in the graduations, but they still have a big kid from Illinois to take his place- Matt Roth.

Roth beat returning champion Seth Livingston to win a heavyweight state championship title in wrestling a few years ago. Tough kid.

You may want to reconsider your bet?

Hail! to the Victors valiant,

Hail! to the conquering heros,

Hail! Hail! to MICHIGAN, the leaders and the best!

No one has beaten Michigan three times in row since the 1960's and it aint gonna happen now.  And you slander us, sir, by imputing any of Snider's failings to this noble state and educational institution!

Round 5 is when I throw water on you to force you back in to consciousness; considering your slight stature.
