Damn straight, he sets up and busts an ammonia cap before he drops his ass on the crapper!

I think I rememebr this painfull workout...there was a STRENGTH legend
that
(
probably no one on this board has heard of ...Ryan stay out of this
one...grin)

Jack (The Monster Maker ) O' Blenss...big crazy "white" dude
who lived right in the middle of South Central L.A. back inthe crazy
dayz...good news...$1 a day work outs (you had to fight your way in and
OUT... HELLS Angels....ex-cons and some Big Badd Leroy Brown types.

Bad news...No one was allowed to sit on anything...the most
KICK ass gym I ever went into too (yes including Louie Simmons) and he
made (too my knowlege) the first wt-stack hack squat machine that went
over 1,000 -lbs and "lucky" me I was the gueina pig...he asked me if I
wanted to TRY it before delivery....?   Being naturally "curious" (no not like
Barron) I tried the weight of the sled and noted the smoothness...Jack had
a grin on his face which usually meant TROUBLE !!!

Do you think you can do the WHOLE STACK ?...he said...Can I warm up a
little more ? The immortal line of all
time : "I've never seen a Husky stretch ...get your ass under there and
show me something "...well 5-days later I was walking with about a 1/2
inch bend in the knee's...I ran the stack... a couple of reps with the whole
thing and I was feeling pretty good about my self...then he reached over
and moved the pin down one -hole...Oh shit...to FAILURE on EVERY DAMN
palte
and when we got down to just the weight of the sled...I was SCREAMING
for mommy ...!

Jack's line after I almost pukked up my Tommy Burger..." You have
muscle fibers you didn't know you have"...THANKS Jack and Rest in Peace
!!!

Of course this is something you would NEVER see in Marin County...wait a
minute...isn't San Quentin up that way ...
Have a GREAT Day !

I just remembered this story about the 6 inch drop to the pot - My first 290 lbs + teammate- Dan Fike - came over to the house a coupla days after a seriously ugly squat day ( I think it was our first day of off-season workout- so we were good n sore)..my lovely wife had installed this new-fangled plastic toilet (RED!) in the guest bathroom - Danny went stumblin' in thar and two seconds later came a horrible noise and a big yell ...of course we all gotta go look at Danny laying there lookin' like a 290lb baby chick just hatched outa a BIG red egg.

I don't think the drop is that bad, it is the get up that kills.  I swear my next house will have a grab rail.  I have broke two of my dads seats on the drop.  Cheap crap, all pun intended.

...when my torso has been completely torched, getting out of bed the next morning requires every other muscle I have and a yearning to get to the bathroom before I pee.
...when plyos, super-set squats and such make my hamstrings sing choral themes and variations of pain, the only thing that hurts my feelings more than ascending stairs is the fact that I'll have to descend them later and that it'll burn just as much then (see also: 6" drop discussion).
...when I've shredded my entire upper body with dumbbell, stone and log acceleration drills and throws, I can't shoot pool without missing the cue due to twitch and cramp factors.

However, I'd never claim to know the magnitude of pain some of you've seen in your admirably ridiculous workouts- I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! I've just seen a little double-DOMS-days action and the likes over the years...

I did the 6" drop the day after this workout, my legs fell alseep and I could get up.

5 sets squats going up to 515 lbs.

Power squat 6 sets going up to 1300lbs.

walking lunges with 25lbs db's 3 sets 35 yrds.

Stiff leg dead lift 4 sets 12 reps with 185lbs

Here's the killer. 360lbs angled leg press- a race to 300 reps. 1 person gets in and does as many as he can, gets out, the next guys goes and does the same. Keep going until someone reaches 300 reps. The people who are behind now have to complete all the reps left(without stopping) and get to 300.

I fell to the floor and waited for feeling to return before having to enter the shower for obvious reasons.....

The "Eirikur Man-Maker Workout"

Close-Grip High Pulls...adding weight for 4 sets

Snatches...adding weight for 4 sets

Cleans...adding weight for 4 sets

High Pulls...adding weight for 4 sets

Deads...adding weight until you can't pull it off the floor

The beauty of this workout is you never have to move the bar...just keep adding weight and keep pulling...try it, you'll like it...

Why all the focus on hurting yourselves? Best workouts for me are when I hit a few PBs, move the weights easily and then don't feel sore the next day.

Because there is a certain sense of accomplishment in at least feeling that you pushed your body to that point.  Because it gives you away to connect with your peers.  Because I am a bad boy and I deserve to be punished...wait, that last part just sort of slipped out...maybe I shouldn't have said that...time to change the subject...hey. how 'bout them Steelers?

*blushes*

Make no mistake, I've done the workouts where you can't sit down in a controlled manner, as well as one where I could not walk with unlocked knees for 2 days. But I don't really think of that as a great workout, I think of that as FUN

You boys crack me up!.. I just got back into "heavy" lifting.. now granted I'm moving girly weighs right now.. but for instance.. day 1 back on the bench... I can't button my shirt or brush my hair..   and forget leg days.. You guys can stand and bear it.. try finding a close enough firend that you can ask for help so that you can sit down to pee.. (that's what I thought!)..  Not to mention if you guys get the john wayne walk going after a tough leg day.. it's understood.. US.. people ask questions..

After a good workout I have Evolution.  I get up and evolve as I walk, from a bent over primate into a sapien.  Takes longer sometimes than others to evolve.  After the meat workout, it might take a few minutes.   My wife says stuff also.  Mocks me.

Hey Wood, you get my PM's

...you really wish you'd gotten power steering.

...stepping off a high curb is a nigh insurmountable obstacle.

I really liked being able to swim laps after workouts when I used to be at the Y.  Seemed to loosen everything back up.
