funny thing Matt-is kaitlyn besides being a phenom in basketball(plays 8th grade league ball as a 6th grader..led 13-16 yr old league in three pointers attempted & made as a 11yr old)but has been county MVP for 4 years in the summer track series(6 summer track meets/can only enter three events per nite-points count towards overall-she does sprints-shot-and usually hurdles or high or long jump-MVP of age group at 5-6,7-8,9-10,&11-12 and overall MVP(ages 5-19) as a 9,11 yr old..def got some of mom's genes)...has wanted to throw in the games for ages.she threw in the junior comp at maine last year as a 11yr old and won the female 13-17 and second in male13-17...makes us proud-she's a good kid-(as are all of our kids-diverse and wonderfull!!!!!!!!!

Diversity is the spice of life, Dan. It's funny how different my kids all are. Bag pipes, dancing, throwing, they are all so different and very entertaining! They crack me up every day. The funny thing about my family is that my wife isn't very athletically inclined. She's very musically talented and can cook up a storm! I guess that means the kids got all their skills from me? I think Emily is one of the few athletes to transfer Highland games experience over to track and field rather than the other way. She still holds Missouri state records for the JR high discus. It was farther than the Jr High boys record, too. Made me laugh! |

Yeah, those are all my kids. Same wife. Yes, there are eight.

Cool Daryl..my wife (Terri James)doesn't read the boards-doesn't know where her marks are ranked, where her overall is -knows waht games she has won-but last year brought up Emily's#;s + the video of her spinning wob-she said right then that was the future of the womens sport!your family sounds like a hoot and have only great things about you all-wish you the best and hope to meet up with you and your clan sometime soon....as a side note diversity is funny-my 11yr old son-doesn't want to compte but whenever he comes to practice with us blows us away with his double spin in wfd...spin with(homemade 9lb)wob-kid's..and his mini caber....funny thing is he is a great singer/actor and actually
is in fianl callbacks for a major Broadway(NYC)play-made cut from 200 boys to 50 boys to 25 to 6-thats when a major agent snatched him up...kinda funny going from lifting and throwing all sweaty with Ryan to his "broadway auditions"..and all the kids can say are dad you stink(i'm ok-don't stink)but Mom's the champ(well she is 3X masters world champ-and 2005 top ranked female)..hey Daryl don't want to sound negative or bad but have seen Emily(on video in past) is that a long 28(for wob-like throwere choice??we don't do that on east coast-can't tell from photo..still damn impressive...and also not to sound personel but myself + others would like a rough idea what Emily weighs(she looks lean but I think about 125lbs which is still impressive!!!!!!!!)

Emily is short, maybe 5' 2 or so and will likely be the shortest of my girls. Jennifer is 5'11' and Hannah is right at 6' tall. I think, but haven't made her get on the scale that she weighs about 125, pretty good guess! Em prefers the short weights for WOB. I think that's what she was using last year when trying to make 14. Thanks for the good wishes! Right back at you and your family! |

She's more like 140 and 5' 4", but who's counting... I'm gonna get her to teach me to spin this winter, just for fun. Until NOW, my standing throw was about what her spinning throw was, but she's surpassed my record of 14' by a little bit... Edited by kansaswolf |
