That's Al Meyer's brother-in-law, Bob Burtzloff(sp).  It's the real deal.  And so is he.

Real deal?  You mean like those are 8 big fat 10k plates or do you mean it's 405 on there?

I don't think it's 405 but I think it's in the 320 range.  Don't quote me on that cause I'm not 100% sure I'll have to ask Al but I do know that it was a crazy stupid weight.

I have seen him personally handle over 230 in that fasion pretty easily.

Yeah, that is Bob, really nice guy and amazingly strong.  Back in Febuary, I saw him at a strongman competition do an 800lb silver dollar deadlift.

Bob's getting up in years and that photo is from many years ago.  I am not 100% certain, but I am thinking that in that photo he did a one arm clean and jerk with 253lbs, no strap, no help from the free hand.  Bob clean and jerked 400 plus in official competition back in the 80's.  If he did that 800lb silver dollard deadlift recently, then he's got to be in his mid 50's, and that's some serious stuff.  I competed (I had to say against, because I had no hope of beating him) "with" Bob back in 1984 in a pre USAWA odd lift meet.  I was 20 years old and Bob was in his prime.  He was screwing around doing some old time bent presses and he did 250.  My understanding at that time he was trying to beat Arthur Saxon's twohands anyhow lift (@330lbs bent press with a clean and press of a kettlebell that weighed @ 112lbs).  This lift stood as a record until Paul Anderson broke it with a barbell clean and push press.  I heard that Bob got to where he bent pressed close to 300lbs.  That's some awesome one arm lifting.  Bottom line, that photo is a real photo and that's something like 253lbs in bumper plates.

The most amazing thing about that is, he'd clean and jerk 250 with 1 hand, throw it over his head, catch it in his left, then jerk it with his left.

That bar is very suspect. It should have a bit more bend to it if that is in the 300 to 400 pound range. It is way to straight.

No, my memory was off.  It's like Thom's post says, it was 253.  It's no 320 but not that that makes it any less incredible.
