Hello again! So I've watched a few YouTube videos of people completing events at different Highland Games. I was wondering how to master technique if you can't find someone to teach you in person?
Another thing I was wondering is how to simulate the caber toss and if there is a way to measure height on sheaf toss and WOB if you don't have a bar or anything. Many of the games in Texas have clinics for novices, but unfortunately all the ones with dates published for the next year are on my seven on (work schedule is seven on/seven off night shift) with the one being local (Scottish Festival in Arlington) not listing that a clinic is an option, so if anyone has competed in that particular games, do they offer one and it's just not listed on the site? I've emailed someone with that organization, just waiting for a response :) Any tips, advice or comments much appreciated!!! Happy New Year's Eve, y'all! :D

You need to get a couple stones and have some weights. The way to master is to do, only way to get better. I would suggest this video...
http://hgcontrarianapproach.com/ As for as Caber, Doing is definitely the only way. You can go to a Farm supply or something and get a utility pole or make one as Mike explains in the video. As for as WOB, you can make a standard for the back yard out of a 5 gallon bucket, some quickcrete and some Pvc Pipe. As for as sheaf, find a tall tree with various height branches :-) But stay throwing toward the outside of the branches not the root of the tree or the sheaf might get eaten.

Awesome, I'll look into those. Luckily I've got kettlebells, I've seen pics where chains are attached to use for practice for some of the events. Just need to check which weights to use. Have 2 20 lbs, 2 35 lbs and hopefully soon 2 50 lbs.
