Holy crap!! I've looked at four different hardware stores (Lowes and Home Depot along with mom and pop stores), and can not find any schedule 80 3/4" PVC with a bell flange/end. I can find 2 1/2" diameter, and 3/4" without the bell end, and I don't want to attempt threading it either. Where can I get what I want without paying out the eyeballs? Any help?

Home Depot. Electrical conduit.
Fwiw, sch40 is cheaper and fits better. You'll have to do some searching for sch80 though. |

I've ordered 3/4" sched 80 bell-ended sticks through Grainger. I think they were ~$10-15 /10ft. We've made the non-bell end stuff work, too, it just takes a heat gun and something to "bell out" the end, and usually something to jam up in there to help it keep it's shape.

Srsly? $10-15/10ft
I just bought 4 pieces today at Home Depot for $1.67/ea. Typically the sch80 are $2.50/ea or thereabouts. |

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/CANTEX-Conduit-4EUC6?Pid=search We were destroying sch40 with the quickness. Hard ground on the field and a stack of standard plates welded together meant about 10 throws before kaboom. If the weight was different it probably would have lasted much longer.

No real need for a flared end, really. I just put a tape wedge on the end of my pipes and I'm good to go. Also, weight plates will kill handles - been there before.

I've never seen Sched 80 bell end conduit at any of the home improvement stores (Home Depot, Lowe's, Menard's, Ace Hardware, etc). Plain end, yes. As for using a tape wedge, I'd make sure to examine it closely each time to make sure it wasn't working its way off the end. The heat gun and a good cork or tapered piece of dowel would help flare it out (I haven't done so myself since my own hammer work hasn't proven as destructive to sched 40).

I've had good luck with the glue on end caps as well, just give it 24 hours to cure. Gets you more use out of the 10' sections of conduit.

I was a landscaper for many years, so I get my sch 80 from landscape supply companies. Here's the link to Ewing Irrigation Supply. They have locations all over the US. If there isn't one located close to you I am sure you can find a similar irrigation supply company if you google it for your area. Good Luck
