As we're discussing Olympic lifts one hand snatches etc I thought I would ask the board a couple of questions.
1, what is the ideal body long back , long legs short back , long back short from knee to waist and long from knee to foot, I think you get the idea?
2, Can you overcome body disadvantages with proper style and form without any Ped and reach a high standard?

Thanks

(1) I would say this depends on the event.  Long arms are definitely helpful for every throwing event (the longer the better).  Being fairly tall (say 6'2"-6'6") is also consistently helpful.  Within that context, in terms of relative leg length vs. torso length, I would say relatively short legs are helpful for rotational Open Stone, both WFD, and probably hammers. Relatively long legs are probably helpful in the WOB (especially standing!), Sheaf, Braemar Stone, and probably gliding Open Stone (being extra tall is also very helpful in each of these events). Not saying you have to be very tall or have these characteristics to be successful, only that they are desirable and make success more likely.

(2) Definitely.  Look at Ryan V, Alister Gunn, and no doubt many others.  However, you will likely notice that in every such case their standing WOB is their weakest event, with the Braemar Stone likely also being relatively weak.
