No way I could single-hand snatch 150 and I've gone 15. Nothing spectacular but I think Mike is a special and unique snowflake more than anything else.
Matt said it beautifully up there: if it's done right, there's a long smooth pull on the wob.

I think explosive GM's are a great lift for many of the highland games events. Steve P sure could hammer these out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhQaHTKVbFg
Anything that forces you to drive your hips through should be a staple of your training.

Thanks for replying Greg, would you say speed of lift performed correctly is better than grind out heavier weights? |

They both have their place, depends on the time of year. I wouldn't be grinding out anything heavy during the in-season, although I know some people who do. I always preferred to work in the 40-60% range during the in-season portion of the year. December-March is when I grind things out following a specific plan.

Good mornings, Romanian Deadlift, back extension, pull-throughs.
All good in my humble opinion. |
