1. Should you stop with the weight room before an event. If so how soon.
2. What should you eat the night before an event.
3. What should you eat the morning of an event.
Thanks for the help.

1. Don't fry your CNS too close to a games. I've still found you can hit Monday or even Tuesday pretty heavy (singles only though and maybe 85-ish%?) and be recovered enough to play. I like to keep mobile even up to the day before but that's literally foam rolling and maybe some mobility work. If it's a bigger games, you might want to taper a bit sooner. It's kind of a "season to taste" thing though.
2. Lots. 3. See #2. You aren't going to eat much all day (well, I don't anyway), so loading up on a ton of fat and protein usually sets me pretty right. A lot of it is experience and ritual though.

1) I typically lift monday and tuesday, throw light wednesday and rest thursday/friday. If it's a big games, I'll lift sunday and monday, throw light tuesday and shut it off. Lots of rest, stretching, foam rolling and ice baths. 2) everything in sight. I try to keep fats a bit low though because for me, they tend to stick in my gut the next day.
3) something light, like an omelette and pancakes.. again avoiding the gut rot thing all day long. I eat smarties/sweet tarts/nerds throughout the day in addition to gatorade and water plus maybe some fish & chips for lunch.
you really have to go by feel and figure out what you like and what works best for you since everyone is so different. I've heard Vierra would knock back incredible amounts of food the morning of a games but I feel miserable during the day when I do that. It's to each his own.
