Why?

How do you work them in to your routine?  Do you feel they help with throwing?

Please discuss especially with dumbells, as I have no way to  set up a decline bench in a rack, here at the big U.  But I can use db's on the situp boards.

I'm a noob to throwing but I've been lifting off and on for a while and I
recently tried adding declines back into my program. It was a bust. I
feel floor presses are a safer more productive lift. I was reading an old
Milo article about an Olympic thrower who was a big proponent of the
incline. Maybe one of the big boys will weigh in but I just don't see a
reason for the decline.

Agreed.

I used to decline all the time, but it seems to hurt my
shoulders now. The only time I've hurt my pec while
pressing was doing decline, too.

For your time and energy, incline and bench are the best
presses, in my opinion.

This is just not true and is just old bodybuilding myth type stuff, but still, there is no real reason to do a decline press.

lol, true, but I'd hate for someone to repeat that to someone else when there is a 17 year old study with EMG activity that indicates otherwise.

Speaking of, IIRC, did you know the lower pec actually receives more activation from a flat bench than a decline bench?
