I hear Pro Strongman John Conner will be there in the Am's
in his first "official" highland games. I know he's hit
16' plus in the WOB in strongman! Should be a great
addition to the event!

Don't miss the Bible Study one hour before on Sunday morning!  We start at 10, so we'll start the Bible Study at 8:58 a.m. ... that'll give you plenty of time to get warmed up after the study.  We'll see you there!

The Witchita Eagle has a neat little write up about the festival.

Good job to all the Am's that made it, and special for my bro Duncan that through much adversity and strife got himself back together and won his first solo meet. Way to go brother.....!

Thanks Jonathan. Congratulate Duncan on whooping me
sideways... again.

Anyhow. Those of you that didn't make it missed one hell
of a show on Saturday. Duncan won (laden with a bum knee
and a huge fan club) but there were some serious
challengers and challenges on the field.

John Conner is a monster, and if he gets long and loose
with that hammer, he will probably be the first to
achieve human powered space launch of an object.

Matt Thompson kept saying that he wasn't full steam but
he kept his throws in the game all day and came out to
dominate the sheaf... 30' with a 20# bag isn't the
walking wounded for sure.

I'm terrible with names but some guy that is supposed to
be a sports therapist put some mojo on me with a secret
taping technique. Without me to stop him he went 17' plus
with the WOB. (After he and Matt battled it out at the
sheaf.)

As usual, Dave, Gunner, Amber, Larry, Terry, and crew put
on a great time. It was all smiles (from everyone) and
smart-ass comments (from Duncan and Mike Smith.)

Can't imagine a better way to spend a day. See you guys
next time.

Another first-class event by the Glasgow/Ventress management team.  Thanks to taking something over last minute and turning it into a great day!

Awesome to see the pro's out there.  They put on a great show for the crowd.  It was cool to see people moving their chairs to watch them throw the caber then move them back for the sheaf and WOB.  And watching that bag sail across the top of the standards TWICE by McKim was quite a spectacle

Tough group of masters to throw against.  I'm pretty sure a few of the pros were watching to get some tips from Jones and Leffler!

Of course, nothing tops the world record sheaf toss by Mike Murdock.  Very, very impressive!!!

A HUGE "Thank You" to the Ventress/Glasgow team for a great weekend.  It was a pleasure to meet Al Myers.  The equipment was top notch and the speedy repairs on the hammer handles were impressive.

The men's open group was a great bunch to throw with.  Duncan and Chuck laid it on all of us pretty good.  Wayne, Scott, Doug, Mike, John and James kept me on my toes all day.  Chuck really fired me up on the sheaf.  That was fun.  Of course, I was toast afterward, while he went on to a PR on WOB and 3 great attempts at Andy Vincent's record.

Thanks Wayne.  I'm close to being 100%, and the hitch in the abdomen hasn't given my sheaf much problem.  I did expend about 10 times more energy trying to warm up, than I did throwing.  And all the comments about my pallet bands were enjoyable...  (It was worth it though, as nothing locked up on me this weekend)

It appears as though working the tightness out of my right hip has HELPED the sheaf a wee bit.   Going to have the ART Doc start on the left hip later this week...
