    Posted: 2/13/11 at 2:07pm

It always surprises me how many people in the highland games dont properly warm up before working out or throwing.  I always do a dynamic warm up before doing anything.  It works range of motion, flexibility, agility, and conditioning.

Rather than try to describe the exercises I do, I thought I would just video my warm up from today.  I really believe that if you add this stuff to your workouts, not only will you prevent injury, but ultimately be a better thrower.  I think the footwork stuff really translates to the open stone and weights.

Its also a good time to listen to music that will help you get up for/focus on your workout.   You can hear some of the stuff I listen to.  Ill buy a beer for the first person to name the title/artist of each song.

This is probably the best instructional video for a dynamic warm-up that I have ever seen.

Oh, and:

Herbie Hancock - Rockit
Loverboy - Working for the Weekend
Mel McDaniel - Louisiana Saturday Night
Bobby Brown - My Prerogative
Public Enemy - 911 is a joke
Prince - Purple Rain

That would not be a warmup for me, that would be the whole workout. Great
job, that was awesome.

I am proud to know you brother!  That's amazing!  I was actually popping in here to post it.  It was robbed from MASA and posted on GLSAA.  Thank you for sharing!

Craig, right on brother.  Surprised you know the old school Mel McDaniels.  When we cross paths this year, the beer is on me.

@ Ryan, I truly must have achieved something remarkarble to merit comparison to "KO's underwear tear".

tbh, I had Alabama at first, but I didnt' want to muddy the waters with too many answers.

fun fact:  I saw Alabama perform at the Grand Ole Opry.  True Story.
