If anybody has not pick up this book from Todd Bostrom "Z last book you will ever need on strength training"  you better get it fast.  The last 14 weeks I have been taining with it and I have a raw push pull meet on April 3 and expect to get 420 bench and 700lb deadlift.  This training has pushed my body to the limits and it has only been 14 weeks.  My legs, hips, back, shoulders, arms etc.. are the strongest they have ever been, and as we all know highland games legs, hips, and back are it.  October there is a full meet in New Haven Vermont APA, WPA and with the help from Bostrom I intend to squat 600+, bench 450, deadlift 750 for a raw total of 1800+.  This is only going to get better and stronger.  I really feel so much strongere in all my throws in the power position the 16 and the 22lb feel light.  We all train at Mark Curriers house Claremont, NH 1 or 2 days a week anybody is welcome to come and train.  I cant wait for the first highland games to come up, time to break some records in the masters division.

What kinda program is it? I'm not a big fan of the end-all be-all idealogy, but I'm always looking for more ideas for my own training.

A source with a lot of good information.  As with any information source, ones' own personal goals, potential and ability to train have to be taken into account.  The secret behind any of these programs and information sources is how to best adapt it to your personal situation and get the most out of it.  There is nothing particularly new in the book.

you arew right there is nothing new except my raw bench went from 365 to 425 pause rwp and almost 435 pause rep in comp and raw deadlift from 600 to 625 in comp and pulled 650 at home.  Also the author Todd Bostrom is a personal trainer and will stay in touch with you by email ans train you to achieve any goal you have he will set up a specific routine for you personally.  I dont know any book or program that does that.  Also since this book my stone lift has gone up to 420 stone 55" box and 400 keg 55" box.  These numbers ate a direct result of that book.  It is onlt $30 to buy, but is you want to stay weak and small don't buy it!  I am 265 lbs 5'11" 12% body fat, strongest, biggest I have ever been because of this book.  What do you have to loose in buying it and getting youir own personal trainer.

As a 40 year old experienced strength athlete, you put 60lbs on your raw bench and 50lbs on your raw dead lift in three months, and the only change was following this book???

It's a good advertising pitch though, really.

And your going to put another 100 on your dead and then throw in the games and break some records.  Tell me what game and what record your going to crush cause I want to see that, of course you will be holding the book in your off hand.

HaHa finally some feedback thats what i like to see.  And yes you all can come and watch me i will be at the highlander with Berby and his backyard games prob 6-8 highland games this year believe me breaking records in Masters, 5-6 strongman local contests, and 3-4 powerlifting meets.  It is not just the book obviously, my nutrition went through the roof, protein 300 grams day calories 4000+ taking the best supplements from JSNitro.com, then this book that forces you to lift heavy in a way that you cant make a mistake!  I continue to make gains every 14 or so weeks.  June 26th EPF powerlifting i will be hitting 440-450 bench.  I dont mind if there are people out there who dont believe these numbers but it is true.  Ask Berby, he knows what i was doing last year and where my throws were and this year is a new hurricane so come out and watch and learn.

Exactly.  For you to make the gains that you made (ie: 60lbs on your raw bench in 3 months) your training and nutrition before must have been nothing short of horrendous.  Those gains might be typical of a teenage boy going through puberty who just started lifting,  but to do that as an 'experienced' strength athlete is a ludicrous claim.

The book is nothing new, and certainly nothing revolutionary.  It is basic lifting, and anyone who has been training for any number of years knows this.  You could take this book in you thread and replace it with Rippetoe's SS, or Wendler's 5/3/1, or Starr's 5x5, etc, etc, etc...

Why would I not believe that you could bench mid 400s?  I'm only disputing what was essentially a spam post for the book.

Since I have held a few records in the masters, would you be willing to put some bread on the line about you coming and breaking them?  How about a 500 bucks you don't clear 16 in WOB.  That won't even get the record but it is enough.  Of course I am talking about with a 56.  How about 34 in the sheaf with a 16 pound bag?  For the same 500, again a couple inches short of the record, but enough to take my money.  You seem very confident and clearly have the records in the bag, no reason you should not make some money off of it.

Mark is a strong fellow and getting stronger, but I think he has a ways to go
before he is going to be setting any records - at least in highland games.

But, its cool to see him excited about throwing, and if the book helped him
get his lifting program and diet together - thats awesome too.

See you on the field...

Hey Cane you said you were going to break records in the masters, so what did you mean by that?  You don't seem confident, you seem defensive as I just offered you some bread to put up with your talk.  You are the one who needs to speak with Berby.  I'm good.

lol, first this thread comes off as total spam for a basic book in which, at first, you give infinite credit to. (which, btw, is completely absurd)

And then you say:

I was waiting for the proper end to the first post, where it says "But that's not all, call now and we'll double your order for free!  That's right, add 120 pounds to your bench in just 14 weeks instead of 60!  Call now!"

OK OK your right this is supposed to be a fun forum I forget sometimes.  I should clarify that I meant my own personal records from last year in highland games I am far past last years numbers where I ended up 52nd out of all the masters that was my first full year.  Anyway to end all of this about this book and this will be the last time I mention it on this forum, this book has helped me 100% I have been lifting for 20 years and never made these kind of gains, so try the book or dont I dont care, all I know I am 40 going on 41 and I am the biggest and strongest I have ever been in my life.  We all know nutrition plays the biggest part in strength training, then it is how heavy you lift to build size and strength then lastly is the supplements you take.  This book works I really dont care who thinks so or not.  This is one of the reasons I dont get on these forums because most people know everything.  Try the book or dont, I will continue to post all my gains from every contest I am in this year which is about 15 total between strongman, powerlifting, and highland games.  What do you really have to loose to try this book.

For training, I use Rex Kwan Do exclusively. After only one week, I was prepared to defend myself with the STRENGTH of a grizzly, the reflexes of a PUMA, and the wisdom of a man. No joke!

LAWL!!!  KTD = BraveStarr!!!

Jesus this thread is terrible, and frankly, the threats have NO PLACE on this board.  "Be careful who you piss off"...seriously?  REALLY?  Come on man, you aren't REALLY threatening Myles are you?  What, are y'all gonna whip 'em out and measure?  Loser walks?  Threats like those are like the men who make them...empty and irrelevant.
