A friend sent me a link to some pics a friend of hers took at the Enumclaw HG.  I wasn't there, but she knows I compete so passed it along.  I don't know if anyone here has ever seen these.

As much as I liked that games, I cant believe no one got injured on that sh**. Next year we should take practice throws out of the trig to avoid injury. What do you think Wally?

Actually, they throw off of AstroTurf covered plywood.  Yep, not a blade of grass in sight!  l lobby every year in favor of letting the grass grow in but they have a junior rodeo in that arena and won't consider it!  l keep hoping!!!!!

The Claw has been virtually injury free in the 20+ years that we've been there and none of the injuries so far (that l know about) were caused by the Turf.

l think that we'd be going a lot further over schedule than we did this year.  Experience has shown us that we would have to add at least an hour to our day, and that's if nobody tried to sneak in an extra practice throw!!  And that ALWAYS happens.

You could have just an extra trig off to the side behind the sheaf on the west side just for warm ups. either way its a great games.

lt's not a bad idea.  l'll consider that (taking into account the added expense [plywood, Turf, extra trig board, oh damn, & extra implements], storage, transportation, set-up labor, and the time involved!)  Who knows, it could happen!  Or we could just expect the athletes to continue doing wind-ups without releasing the implement.  You know, like the Elites do?
