I have a mild tear in my Left bicep. Enough to make a small bruise. Dr. says to rest it 6 - 8 weeks (I take that as 3 -6 in HG terms). She told me it is in danger of detatching if I do much more and then I'm f'd if that happens. Anyway I'm Right handed so I'm trying to work around it as much as I can. I'm thinking one or 2 days of squats and then as much work with the good arm as I can. Any ideas for exercises (I'm already thinking D. bell snatches, jerks, and lots of dbell rows) I have access to alot of Hammer strength, and Nautilus stuff but only use it when there is nothing else available. |

I suffered a complete rupture of my left (throwing side) pectoral on January 14, and since surgery have been doing a lot of one-arm work on the right side. I've heard of the benefits of bilateral transfer, and the mental benefits of just getting in and doing something are plenty.
I've mostly been doing one arm DB benches, DB militaries, DB push presses, DB rows, one arm cable rows, DB curls, triceps, DB snatches etc. Surprisingly, after a few weeks the left side actually began to look less atrophied than it once did. Just get creative and do whatever you can to make a difficult time a little less stale. Good luck with your injury! |

How about taking a few weeks off... can't hurt, but it could help a lot... it could help everything a lot.

Hope you get some swelling with that brother. Mass is good. And it is winter, so purple is fine right now, as long as it is gone by Easter.

I took 4 months off when my brain exploded, unless that happens again I'm going to the gym. Plus one of my goals is to get my arse kicked by you slightly less than last year. Maybe get to more than 1/2 of what you throw. |

Any worries about causing imbalances with doing exercises for extended periods 1-handed?
I was warned to take it easy with my left side while my right side is supposedly healing. First day of PT, my therapist says - "oh yeah, I can see that your right side is atrophied a bit" I just told her that I had been doing dumbell snatches and suitcase lifts with my left side exclusively - so in my mind, my left shoulder was just nicely pumped ![]() |

If you don't have time to do it right, when are you going to have time to do it over?

Read up on Dan John's stuff. He's got tons of info on one arm lifts from when he broke his wrist.

There are several 1 arm lifts in All around lifting. I like 1 arm snatches with a bar. It takes some to time to get the balance down, but once you do, it comes up fast. We've also done 1 arm clean and jerk, 1 arm DL... The clean and jerk is pretty tough, you have to pull it up on your side, then jerk it from there. I don't think there's really much benefit to that one, but the snatch is good |

Quint, Winter = season. In the south we try to comport ourselves accordingly. Hold the white until at least Easter. |

you still need to train and I have never seen a problem created with doing 1 handed oly variations... they are hip dominant exercises anyway. |
