Kevin,

That was not beef!  Allways  order the chicken , and even if it is not chicken it will still taste like it.  Good fun saturday, I am going 28' next year with the sheaf and is's going OVER.

Kev,

I'm so crushed that meeting me wasn't the highlight (or lowlight) of your season.

Getting thirsty,

Kev,

Is it ok if I play as well?  The highlights...too many to list.  My first season throwing, and I have to say I met a lot of great people.

Indiana Highland Games  9 Place

Chatham 1

Naperville 11

Columbus 4

Chicago Pro/Am 14 (just behind Kevin)

Tecumseh 1

I think I have one more game to go yet.

Braemar 27'1

OS 36'

LWFD 50'1"

HWFD 25'4"

WOB 11'

LH 80'10"

HH 63'8"

Sheaf 18' (20lb bag)

Can't wait for next year...

Not to be sappy but the highlight for me was when my neurosugeon said "go ahead pick up whatever you want, throw whatever you want, you're OK."  Everything after that was just a bonus.

Jeff-

Of course you can, ... but you must have a highlight and a lowlight.

BTW- the only caber I didn't turn this year was Kevin Neis' caber in Chicago.

Had an ok year, considering I only had one practice all year(just not enough time with work, kids, gym lifting, house, etc)but have a good base for next year

2007 Marks...

Braemer stone..32-4(down from career PR of 33-3 but best in two years)

Open Stone 42-10(down from 3 years ago PR of 43-10)

28wfd-42-5(PR of 4yr ago was 44-9..but broke 40 feet in all but one of my games)

14wfd(my sore spot all season)71-10(down from three years ago 78-11)

16Hammer 72-6

12 Hammer89-1(only 10 inches from PR)

28wob-15-1(down from 16-0...had 16-0 + way many games just need to get more accurate)

Games entered-12 games

                        10 1st places

                          1 2nd place(to a much improved Kate mason)

                           1 DNF due to injury/illness

presently ranked #2 on nasga behind the great Mindy Pockowski

Might have one more games on 11/3 but it depends on work comitments.Had my husband break out training logs from three years ago to see how I can get back-we have agreed to lift heavy and hard(ala Craig Smith) and practice footwork once a week(which will be more thasn I did all this year) hope to break all 2007 games marks..win more games..and travel to MWC

Season ain't over yet, but so far it has been great. I finally started throwing in proper footwear. And, basically due to that, at one particular games I PR'd in Braemar, Open Stone, HWFD, LWFD, and Caber. I will have competed in 9 games total. Won some, lost some, had fun at every single one. Looking forward to next season.

14 games (with 1 more to go)

3 1sts
4 2nds
4 3rds
3 4ths

OS - 44' - PR
BS - 31 8.5" (not close to PR, but I only threw 22lb 1x)
LW - 65' - PR
HW - 33' 2" - PR
LH - 93' 2" - PR
HH - 76' 3"
SH - 24' (20lb) - PR (no-heighted the one time I did 16lb :()
WOB - 12'

Highlights of the year was doing the Farmer's Walk in Maine, Competing
on the same field as Magnus ver Magnusson at New Hampshire, the
Stoner of Whol carry at Pipes in the Valley, and finally turning Wayne's #4
caber!

--

Next year I plan on doing the Las Vegas and Portland games out West,
and making another run at the ECC at Anne Arundel. I want to turn every
competition caber, and have more consistent marks in the OS, HWFD, and
LWFD.

Hapy-

Very well done!

Not only did you throw 5 PRs this season, but you understood the intent and format of my post.

You have raised the bar.

AncientWRholder -

I really like what you got werkin' here.  I'm gonna get in this.

11 games

9 top 5 finishes, 7th at the National Champs, 1 DNF that got me 6th.

BS - 42'8.5" pr
OS - 55'5.5" pr
28 - 83'6"
56 - 42''4"
LH - 125'2"
HH - 109'9.5"
SH - 30'
56 - 17'1" pr

Highlights - still being able to maintain a top 10 ranking, somehow throwing 3 PR's in a season, considering i never thought i'd throw a PR again.  Talking and discussing throwing with everyone.

Lowlights - Injury and injury.  kept me from doing alot of the things i thought i could.  eh...there is always next year.  maybe ;-)

Ok... This was my first full season competing, so I have a lot of PR's so I will only note the ones that matter....

I competed in 11 Games. I did manage a "B" class victory in 1 game, but came in or at the bottom of all of the other events, but right above me were some of the best around so I feel pretty good.

BS - 25' 7"
OS - 31' 1" PR (I hit this at my first game, it went down and down then I hit it again at my last game so it was an improvement.)
28 - 50' 7.5"PR
56 - 21' 10"
LH - 72' 4.5"
HH - 59' 11" (I hit this three times... Why is 60 so ellusive...)
SH - 19' 6" (blah....)
56 - 11' pr (This was a big one for me....)

I competed in as many games as I did at first to become friendly with the other athletes so that I would know them better to perform my AD role in Maine but I ended up getting hooked and meeting some of the best people around.

Highlights - Seeing my 11 year old daughter throwing the womens implements. Having Hapy give me advice that immediatly translated to inches on my next throw. Holding my own against Will Tagye his first event. The Maine Games.

Lowlights - The kilt incident.

Well, I have one more competition with two goals... Getting that 60' in the HH and breaking 35' in the OS...

My season sucked

Games entered 0

the only plus is that meant no last place finshes for 2007

best throws -none

Judged 11 games-didn't get killed by any athletes so I guess ok (except one feamle athlete who thinks I slighted her-but she can pound salt up her ***)

Annouced 2 games-wasn't run out of town so I guess ok

GOALS FOR 2008

throw in a games and not come in last or behind Dr BIll

Dan you can walk and function without a wheelchair or cane so that is a huge plus for the season.

What the hell, I'll post so everyone can feel better about themselves

First three games ever. Took a 5th & 2 2nd's in the C class

everything I do is a PR

BS 24'1"

OS 30'7"

HWFD 15'7" (we normally throwthe 42 & I was lucky to get this mark at all the one time I threw the 56.  Shouldn't be hard to improve upon w/ pratice)

LWFD 42'8.5"

HH 57'5"

LH 71'1"

ST 20' x 20# bag

WOB 13' (haven't tried the 56 in a comp yet & my aim sucks / it'll fly alot higher just not backwards yet)

Like I said no wear to go but up.  I have noticed everyone I'm looking up throws dbl if not farther.  Man I've got to lift harder !

Highpoint was simply being allowed to compete, I've alot of guys in the last couple months who demonstrate a high level of ingerity w/ there actions. It's a hard crowd to find nowadays.  Many thanks to John Springer for letting me compete & Jeff Loosle & his club for their friendship.

Lowpoint (you'll enjoy this) was getting a negative 10' on me first HH attempt.  I started to fall backwards, didn't want to release the hammer & hurt someone so I held on. as I started to do a nice back roll in my kilt my left shoulder popped out of the socket & the hammer went in front of me  !

Man it's got to get better next year.
