I have been training very hard the last 3 months and love the games.  I have been training with a former masters world champ and did well at my first competition (C class).  I am averaging 47-49 feet in the light weight and 20-22 feet in the heavy weight.  I really want to progress and be ready for the "B" class next year, but I have some flaws that have been pointed out to me that is limiting my progression with the weights for distance.  I was a junior high and hs shot putter and I have an awkward looking leg kick or sweep that my "coach" says is throwing me off balance, problem is it doesn't feel awkward so I have a hard time correcting it.  My open stone is in the low to mid 40's I guess the leg sweep works with the stone, right?  Observers say my cast is way too high, above my head and my second cast is even higher.  Also, they say that I am not perpendicular to ground, I am leaning quite a bit as I come around for my release and releasing off of my left leg (I am right handed).  "Coach" says I need to slow down my first cast, which I have done but my second goes high again and I look out of control and ugly with the big leg kick or sweep.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

* If you can get pictures or video of yourself, it would help lots.  I would not want to counter what a a knowledgeable coach who has seen your form has said

* if you post this on training, you may get more advice

*First spin is to provide momentum on the weight so your not starting from a dead stop - it is important to land the first position, if you do not you will have a hard time recovering and getting a good throw.

*First spin if you start moving before casting the second spin, you will be dragging the weight rather than pushing it -- thus slow down and be patient - wait for the weight to come around or slow the first spin down -- foot work drills.

* Are your cast high because your not getting an orbital path of the weight?

* I am assuming that casting your weight high is causing you to not be able to counter the weight by "sitting down" in the spin and is preventing the power from your legs to get into the throw upon the release.  -

* Second cast - you want to be able to move across (some call it sprinting across) the box toward the left front corner - This will open your hips for the release.  A lower cast will keep your feet on the ground so you get the power in your release.

Thank you I will post in training.  Also, I do not disagree with "Coach" just gathering as much info as possible.
